The New York Post is an American daily newspaper, primarily distributed in New York City and its surrounding area. It is the 13th-oldest and seventh-most-widely circulated newspaper in the United States. Established in 1801 by federalist and Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, it became a respected broadsheet in the 19th century, under the name New York Evening Post. Since 1993, the Post has been owned by News Corporation and its successor, News Corp, which had owned it previously from 1976 to 1988. Its editorial offices are located at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, in New York City, New York.
The modern version of the paper is written in tabloid format.
The New York Post, established on November 16, 1801 as the New-York Evening Post, describes itself as the nation's oldest continuously published daily newspaper. The Hartford Courant, believed to be the oldest continuously published newspaper, was founded in 1764 as a semi-weekly paper; it did not begin publishing daily until 1836. The New Hampshire Gazette, which has trademarked its claim of being The Nation's Oldest Newspaper, was founded in 1756, also as a weekly. Moreover, since the 1890s it has been published only for weekends.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
York (i/ˈjɔːrk/) is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events in England throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city offers a wealth of historic attractions, of which York Minster is the most prominent, and a variety of cultural and sporting activities making it a popular tourist destination for millions.
The city was founded by the Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD. It became the capital of the Roman province of Britannia Inferior, and later of the kingdoms of Northumbria and Jórvík. In the Middle Ages, York grew as a major wool trading centre and became the capital of the northern ecclesiastical province of the Church of England, a role it has retained.
In the 19th century, York became a hub of the railway network and a confectionery manufacturing centre. In recent decades, the economy of York has moved from being dominated by its confectionery and railway-related industries to one that provides services. The University of York and health services have become major employers, whilst tourism has become an important element of the local economy.

This Episode investigates one of New York City’s most prominent and controversial newspapers, the New York Post. Host Bill Kurtis takes us inside its offices and looks at the tabloid that covers the gamut from analytical business reporting to vicious celebrity gossip. This documentary interviews staff writers, crime photographer “Calamity” Sam Costanza, and gossip columnist Richard Johnson. Managing Editor Marc Kalech is quoted as saying, “We attack people who need attacking.” An intriguing look into this kind of “journalism,” this program raises questions about what we call “news.”

January 12, 1983 TRT: 28 minutes #14 Treading through the streets of New York City as his artistic alias Archie Bishop, Stuart Ewen critiques the constant fear and sensationalism the New York Post brings into our lives. Through a series of street interviews, Ewen (as Bishop) reveals the deeper fractures of our social consciousness that have been perpetuated by the Post’s bright red fonts, excessive exclamation points, and outrageous headlines, that command us to fear, read, and obey. Ewen maintains, as we continue our consumption of this media we sink further into a vicious cycle were the most exaggerated headlines of the Post form the nightmare that we come to call our daily lives. This tape perfectly embodies the media reformist spirit that founded Paper Tiger and that still keeps o...
Throughout the US primary season we have seen plenty of examples of the American news media not only reporting political developments in the race for the White House but playing a central role in them - especially when it comes to the number of hours given over to Republican candidate, Donald Trump, or the tone of inevitability when it comes to the coverage of Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton. The media's preoccupation with Trump is not necessarily ideologically driven - rather it's economic - because in the cable news industry, he guarantees ratings. On the Democratic side, much time - at least at the outset - was dedicated to Clinton, as opposed to her adversary, Bernie Sanders. Some say that unlike Trump, that's not because of ratings, but rather what she represents in terms of t...

Mike Vaccaro, lead sports columnist for the New York Post joins the Thursday Talk of the Red Ticket Blues Podcast. First, we discuss what the New York Knicks need to do going forward. Does it involve Carmelo Anthony? Will Phil Jackson hire one of "his guys" and let Tom Thibodeau keep walking? Staying with the Knicks, I ask Mike about how three years ago he got a sitdown with the owner of the Knicks and Rangers that being James Dolan. We then get a little into his beginnings in the business and how he has personally had adapt with time, newspapers, and himself. The conversation then leads to current journalism and the most recent Peyton Manning story published by Shaun King of the New York Daily News. Is hero worshipping the neglect for the story or a different angle? We recap wha...
I hear the train all night
Sound of its wind blowing through our subtle lives
And I have a job to do walking these cars
Walking all asleep to get to you
But I don't feel your stir beside me
And your not in my morning hour
Some ties are made to break
Some stalks grow high and green to run away
And feel the wake
And these lines tell the truth
These city veins answer all you do
So could you keep me in the pulses
Could you keep me in the sound
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you know
Maybe you bet on me
While we were still young enough to know
Or to believe
For every year you took
For every soft breathe or loving look
Believe me
And don't keep me like you have me
And don't kiss me like you don't
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
Some land holds a home
Some of my years only hold me to Rome
But I tell myself its true
You see a home you see a man
You see it too
And I say don't you know you have her
Go on kiss her now you boy
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
