From religion to professional expertise and even his public statements, Professor Makau Mutua one of the most controversial applicants for the position of Chief Justice (CJ), faced the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) in its longest interview since the exercise began more than two weeks ago.
Makau defended a tweet he published that he would not recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta as Head of State. Makau said he made the remarks because of the cases at the ICC and because of the flawed electoral process, but has no problem working with the President if he were to be appointed chief justice. The ongoing interviews for the position of deputy Chief Justice ended on a rather colourless note, after the Judicial Service Commission was forced to discontinue its session with an applicant, Dr. Isaac Rutenberg citing lack of requisite qualifications and what the commission termed agony and a waste of its precious time.
The professor of chemistry was asked to leave after the commission notified him that his 5 years experience in legal practice was not enough to qualify him for the crucial position at the Judiciary.
The second and final candidate, Judith Mulama Wanjala was not even better, after she was taken to task to explain her understanding of the law, again raising questions over her qualifications.

On the Last Day
On the Last Day (OtLD) was a five piece post-hardcore band from Seattle, Washington.
Biography
Soon after forming in 2003 in Seattle, On the Last Day started touring the local club scene, with the likes of Boys Don't Bleed, Up Falls Down, Aiden, Atreyu, and Deftones. With the help of Wil Francis of Aiden, the band was set up with talent scouts from many labels. As fate would have it, Victory Records (Aiden's label) signed the band in 2006. Prior to the release of the 2006 album Meaning in the Static, On the Last Day released Wars Like Whispers, an EP featuring Francis. Meaning in the Static has received mixed reviews from critics.
On the Last Day's first North American tour was in the summer of 2006 (10 August – 12 September) with New Jersey's pop-punk band Crash Romeo. The tour lasted for 33 days with 22 venues. The group toured Europe early in 2007.
Frank Gross and Aiden's Nick Wiggins were in a band together when they were younger called Bent Kactus
Geoff Walker left the band on May 24, 2007. Carson Allen (formerly of Escape the Fate and Devilyn Alaska) has been announced as the new vocalist. Geoff now has a new band called Again and Again.
