Ronald William "Ron" Howard (born March 1, 1954) is an American film director, producer, and actor, best known for playing two high-profile roles in television sitcoms in his childhood and early adulthood, and for directing a number of successful feature films later in his career.
He first came to prominence playing young Opie Taylor in the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show for eight years, and later teenager Richie Cunningham in the sitcom Happy Days for six years. Meanwhile, he appeared in the musical film The Music Man (1962), the coming of age film American Graffiti (1973), the western The Shootist (1976), and the comedy Grand Theft Auto (1977), which he also directed.
In 1980, he left Happy Days to focus on directing. His films include the science-fiction/fantasy film Cocoon (1985), the historical docudrama Apollo 13 (1995), the biographical drama A Beautiful Mind (2001) (which earned him the Academy Award for Best Director), and the thriller The Da Vinci Code (2006). In 2002, Howard conceived the Fox/Netflix comedy series Arrested Development, on which he would also serve as producer and narrator, and play a semi-fictionalized version of himself.
Elizabeth Ann Warren (née Herring; born June 22, 1949) is an American academic and politician, who is the senior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has written a number of academic and popular works, and is a frequent subject of media interviews regarding the American economy and personal finance.
Following the 2008 financial crisis, Warren served as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency established two years ago under the Wall Street Reform Act, was created with the goal of protecting you, the consumer. There's been lot of talk surrounding the agency, a lot of controversy, and a lot of money spent on setting it up. CBS 6's Dori Marlin digs deeper though, to get The Bottom Line on whether the agency is getting the job done.Rodney Kuensley shared his story with Dori, in the living room of his Clifton Park apartment. The two sat there, because his house that he'd owned for 17 years in Tioga County - now sits empty.Unable to make his payments, he listed it as a short sale three years ago. But he's had no luck selling - not because of a lack of offers, he says - but because of trouble, with the bank."Bank of America ...

On September 9, 2015 the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau entered a Consent Order against Encore Capital, Midland Funding, Midland Credit Management, Asset Acceptance, and Portfolio Recovery Associates for illegal debt collection tactics.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau aimed to monitor 80 percent of all credit card transactions this year. That equals over 42 billion transactions on over 933 million credit cards. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) is concerned the CFPB meta data collection program is violating the 4th Amendment. The CFPB is not under the jurisdiction of Congress, rather the Federal Reserve and this program has very little oversight or transparency, much less than the NSA. Morgan Drexen, a legal support firm, is suing the CFPB for requesting their clients sensitive personal financial data because sharing this data would have violated state bars laws. In response, the CFPB launched a counter suit against Morgan Drexen saying the company violated the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Morgan Drexen says the company is unc...

The proposed rule titled “Payday, Vehicle Title, and Certain High Cost Consumer Loans” will close for public comment on October 7, 2016.
As the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) continues to flex its enforcement muscles, regulated entities must be aware of and comply with the Dodd-Frank Act's prohibition against unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices (UDAAP), or face the prospect of substantial penalties. The evolving interpretation of this relatively new and vaguely worded law, however, makes compliance challenging. During this program, our panel examines the statute and how it has been applied and interpreted. The discussion is led by Venable partner Allyson Baker, a former CFPB Enforcement Attorney who now represents banks and nonbanks in CFPB investigations. Among other things, topics addressed include: -The types of acts the CFPB has considered to be UDAAP violations. -The nature of the penalties...

Wells Fargo Bank one of the country's biggest banks, has been hit with $185 million in common punishments for subtly opening a large number of unapproved store and Mastercard accounts that hurt clients, government and state authorities said Thursday. Workers of Wells Fargo (WFC) helped deals figures by secretly opening the records and subsidizing them by exchanging cash from clients' approved records without consent, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Los Angeles city authorities said. An examination by the San Francisco-headquartered bank found that its workers opened more than two million store and charge card accounts that might not have been approved by customers, the authorities said.
