This English-language adaptation of the Swedish novel by Stieg Larsson follows a disgraced journalist, Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), as he investigates the disappearance of a wearily patriarch's niece from 40 years ago. He is aided by the pierced, tattooed, punk computer hacker named Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara). As they work together in the investigation, Blomkvist and Salander uncover immense corruption beyond anything they have ever imagined.
Geraldine James ("Cecilia Vanger") on the red carpet for the much-anticipated "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." While the film had already been made in Swedish, David Fincher ["The Game," "The Social Network"] took on the adaptations for the bigger-budgeted, English language films of the Millenium trilogy. Brilliantly cast in the leads are Daniel Craig (aka James Bond) as Blomkvist, and Rooney Mara ["The Social Network"] as Lisbeth Salander. Mara has a difficult task given the acclaim lauded on Noomi Rapace for her take on the heroine in the Swedish franchise, but early sneaks at Mara's Salander were more than encouraging, they were exciting. These red carpet interviews were recorded by the studio at the film's premiere in London. For more news, interviews and images of your favorit...

The direction and screenplay (intertitles are used) is understated, but younger viewers might find themselves stifling a yawn or two at times. The slow pace however, can make 45 Years' somewhat brisk run-time seem much longer. On the other hand, the film is perfect for the elderly to see, be intrigued by and savor.
