Grace Jones gives a wild book signing at Barnes and Noble in NYC Oct 1, 2015. 'I'll Never Write My Memoirs' gets an overwhelming response by the over 700 fans that flocked to the grand event. Before the signing, the Queen of Pop/Funk bares all to the photographers at the press shoot.
She arrived... about 2 hours late.
They canceled the interview talk part, but did the book signing. She was really taking her time with everyone including taking breaks to hug friends she saw in the crowd. Good thing we got our book signed early on, maybe 30 +/- people before us?
She sold out all 700 books, so I think this event went on for a while.
When we got to her, she was drinking champagne, and already seemed a little drunk... She kept talking with Branden, and he couldn't understand what she was saying. Her security tried to get him off stage, and he told them,
"she's talking to me, not the other way around"
Very funny. LOL!

What better way to end a Tribute to a Fashion Icon then with a Fashion show.I entered this Event & Fashion show with the same High Energy and Artistic Vision I had used throughout the entire Homage' to Grace Jones. *My collection was chosen to close out the entire event and why not... Just as you should open an Event with an Energetic Pop so should you leave the audience with an equally Memorable BANG (the show was bitter sweet to say the least as you know with Fashion/Events anything can happen from models disappearing to being rushed ahead of schedule to go on.However I firmly believe the SHOW MUST GO ON even if there is only 1 person in the audience left to see it)Hard work and Dedication should be seen, it's not only yours but it your Support Team's Biggest pay off. This was the perfect ending to end my tribute to Grace Jone using Past Grace Jones Influences in Present Modern day pieces from Handmade Headdresses, Top-hats, and Wraps to Fashion Couture pieces, and closing with painted Body Art. Nach einer wundervollen und beeindruckenden Open Air Saison starten wir den Herbst mit einem neuen Projekt - Viva la Electronica Techno Edition. Es wird hart, härter als gewohnt jedenfalls. Wir begeben uns in den Trafo, das Gracejones Bassment in mitten von Transformatoren, welche früher die Energie lieferten um Stahl zu schmelzen. Heute liefern sie die passende Athmosphäre für unser Event, das ganz im Zeichen der technoiden 4/4 Beats stehen wird.
Das Glück stand auf unserer Seite und so konnten wir gerade noch rechtzeitig ein letztes Date für die beiden Brasilianer Rogerio Animal und Fabiano Pit, die aktuell auf Europa Tour sind und ihren vorletzten Gig bei uns spielen werden, bevor sie das Finale der Tour im Berliner Tresor bestreiten, ergattern. Die beiden sind in ihrer Heimat berühmt und berüchtigt. Sie sind regelmäßig zu Gast in den großen brasilianischen Techno Clubs. Straighter Techno mit Samba Einschlag versprechen ein Sounderlebnis vom Feinsten und heizen euch ein in der kalten Herbstzeit.
Mit dabei auch local Techno Hero Takashi, der nicht mehr vieler Worte bedarf. Hier ist jedem Essener Clubgänger geläufig, dass Techno bei Takashi im Fokus steht. Das Warm up wird Viva la Electronica Host und Strassenmusik Resident Bob Morane bestreiten. Wir freuen uns auf eine Nacht der besonderen Art.

Milan Fashion Week capped off with a blast this weekend that was sure to send the gorgeous jet set and sleepy-eyed into Paris. An event always filled with exactly the right people, this season’s amfAR Gala at Museo della Permanente did not disappoint. Heidi Klum, Rosario Dawson, Jeremy Piven, Coco Rocha and many more, joined the Italian fashion community in Milan to help raise over $1.4 million for the foundation.
The evening featured an epic performance by Grace Jones which included her impressively hula hooping through “Slave to the Rhythm.”

Grace Jones
Grace Jones (born 19 May 1948) is a Jamaican singer, lyricist, supermodel, record producer, and actress. She was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and raised by her grandparents. At 13 she moved with her siblings to their parents' home in Syracuse, New York. Jones started out as a model, initially in New York state, then in Paris, working for Yves St. Laurent, Claude Montana, and Kenzo Takada, and appearing on the covers of Elle, Vogue, and Stern working with Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Hans Feurer.
In 1977 Jones secured a record deal with Island Records; she moved into dance and new wave music, often collaborating with the Compass Point All Stars. She scored Top 40 entries on the UK Singles Chart with "Pull Up to the Bumper", "I've Seen That Face Before", "Private Life", "Slave to the Rhythm" and "I'm Not Perfect". Her most popular albums include Warm Leatherette (1980), Nightclubbing (1981), and Slave to the Rhythm (1985).
She appeared in some low-budget films in the U.S. during the 1970s and early 1980s. In 1984 she made her first mainstream appearance as Zula in the fantasy-action film Conan the Destroyer alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sarah Douglas, and subsequently appeared in the 1985 James Bond movie A View to a Kill as May Day. In 1986 she played a vampire in Vamp, and acted in and contributed a song to the 1992 Eddie Murphy film Boomerang. She appeared alongside Tim Curry in the 2001 film Wolf Girl.

Grace Jones gives a wild book signing at Barnes and Noble in NYC Oct 1, 2015. 'I'll Never Write My Memoirs' gets an overwhelming response by the over 700 fans that flocked to the grand event. Before the signing, the Queen of Pop/Funk bares all to the photographers at the press shoot.
She arrived... about 2 hours late.
They canceled the interview talk part, but did the book signing. She was really taking her time with everyone including taking breaks to hug friends she saw in the crowd. Good thing we got our book signed early on, maybe 30 +/- people before us?
She sold out all 700 books, so I think this event went on for a while.
When we got to her, she was drinking champagne, and already seemed a little drunk... She kept talking with Branden, and he couldn't understand what she was saying. Her security tried to get him off stage, and he told them,
"she's talking to me, not the other way around"
Very funny. LOL!

Wir begeben uns in den Trafo, das Gracejones Bassment in mitten von Transformatoren, welche früher die Energie lieferten um Stahl zu schmelzen. Heute liefern sie die passende Athmosphäre für unser Event, das ganz im Zeichen der technoiden 4/4 Beats stehen wird.
Das Glück stand auf unserer Seite und so konnten wir gerade noch rechtzeitig ein letztes Date für die beiden Brasilianer Rogerio Animal und Fabiano Pit, die aktuell auf Europa Tour sind und ihren vorletzten Gig bei uns spielen werden, bevor sie das Finale der Tour im Berliner Tresor bestreiten, ergattern. Die beiden sind in ihrer Heimat berühmt und berüchtigt. Sie sind regelmäßig zu Gast in den großen brasilianischen Techno Clubs. Straighter Techno mit Samba Einschlag versprechen ein Sounderlebnis vom Feinsten und heizen euch ein in der kalten Herbstzeit.
Mit dabei auch local Techno Hero Takashi, der nicht mehr vieler Worte bedarf. Hier ist jedem Essener Clubgänger geläufig, dass Techno bei Takashi im Fokus steht. In 1986 she played a vampire in Vamp, and acted in and contributed a song to the 1992 Eddie Murphy film Boomerang. She appeared alongside Tim Curry in the 2001 film Wolf Girl.
In 1983, Jones's One Man Show was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Long-Form Music Video. For her work in Conan the Destroyer, A View to a Kill, and Vamp, she was nominated Saturn Awards for Best Supporting Actress. In 1999, Jones ranked 82nd on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll, and in 2008, she was honored with a Q Idol Award. Jones influenced the cross-dressing movement of the 1980s and has been an inspiration for artists including Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Björk, Madonna, Róisín Murphy, Brazilian Girls, Nile Rodgers, Santigold, and Basement Jaxx.
"La Vie en rose" (French pronunciation: [la vi ɑ̃ ʁoz]) was the signature song of French popular singer Édith Piaf, written in 1945, popularized in 1946, and released as a single in 1947.
Ian Fleming references the song in his first James Bond novel Casino Royale, when Bond is eating with Vesper Lynd, and again in his fourth novel Diamonds Are Forever, when Bond chooses to skip it on the record player as it has "painful memories".
The Avengers TV series used this song as an episode title. It was played repeatedly in a house in which Emma Peel was held against her will by an enemy agent she had seduced and betrayed by utilizing the song.

Grace Jones (born 19 May 1948) is a Jamaican singer, lyricist, supermodel, record producer, and actress. She was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and raised by her grandparents. At 13 she moved with her siblings to their parents' home in Syracuse, New York. Jones started out as a model, initially in New York state, then in Paris, working for Yves St. Laurent, Claude Montana, and Kenzo Takada, and appearing on the covers of Elle, Vogue, and Stern working with Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Hans Feurer.
In 1977 Jones secured a record deal with Island Records; she moved into dance and new wave music, often collaborating with the Compass Point All Stars. She scored Top 40 entries on the UK Singles Chart with "Pull Up to the Bumper", "I've Seen That Face Before", "Private Life", "Slave to the Rhythm" and "I'm Not Perfect". Her most popular albums include Warm Leatherette (1980), Nightclubbing (1981), and Slave to the Rhythm (1985).
She appeared in some low-budget films in the U.S. during the 1970s and early 1980s. Her first mainstream film was the 1984 fantasy-action film Conan the Destroyer alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sarah Douglas, and the 1985 James Bond movie A View to a Kill. In 1986 she played a vampire in Vamp, and acted in and contributed a song to the 1992 Eddie Murphy film Boomerang. She appeared alongside Tim Curry in the 2001 film Wolf Girl.
In 1983, Jones's One Man Show was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Long-Form Music Video. For her work in Conan the Destroyer, A View to a Kill, and Vamp, she was nominated Saturn Awards for Best Supporting Actress. In 1999, Jones ranked 82nd on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll, and in 2008, she was honored with a Q Idol Award. Jones influenced the cross-dressing movement of the 1980s and has been an inspiration for artists including Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Björk, Madonna, Róisín Murphy, Brazilian Girls, Nile Rodgers, Santigold, and Basement Jaxx.
"La Vie en rose" (French pronunciation: [la vi ɑ̃ ʁoz]) was the signature song of French popular singer Édith Piaf, written in 1945, popularized in 1946, and released as a single in 1947.
Ian Fleming references the song in his first James Bond novel Casino Royale, when Bond is eating with Vesper Lynd, and again in his fourth novel Diamonds Are Forever, when Bond chooses to skip it on the record player as it has "painful memories".
The Avengers TV series used this song as an episode title. It was played repeatedly in a house in which Emma Peel was held against her will by an enemy agent she had seduced and betrayed by utilizing the song.

"I'll never write my memoirs" - that's what Grace Jones said and even sang back in the 80s; but that is now the title of her autobiography. A book, that just like Grace Jones, is occasionally shocking and entirely open about drugs, sex and parties; but it doesn't just cover the decades of songs like Slave to the Rhythm and Pull up to the Bumper, she also criticises current famous female stars and talks about her traumatic childhood in Jamaica. Grace Jones also spoke to Sarah Montague about leaving Jamaica as a teenager and escaping the violence of her grandmother's second husband. Grace also discusses why she said no to collaborating with Lady Gaga.

A book, that just like Grace Jones, is occasionally shocking and entirely open about drugs, sex and parties; but it doesn't just cover the decades of songs like Slave to the Rhythm and Pull up to the Bumper, she also criticises current famous female stars and talks about her traumatic childhood in Jamaica.
Grace Jones also spoke to Sarah Montague about leaving Jamaica as a teenager and escaping the violence of her grandmother's second husband.
Grace also discusses why she said no to collaborating with Lady Gaga.
