Bryant Park is a 9.603-acre (38,860 m2) privately managed public park located in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and between 40th and 42nd Streets in Midtown Manhattan. Although technically the Main Branch of the New York Public Library is located within the park, effectively it forms the park's functional eastern boundary, making Sixth Avenue the park's primary entrance. Bryant Park is located entirely over an underground structure that houses the library's stacks, which were built in the 1980s when the park was closed to the public and excavated; the new library facilities were built below ground level while the park was restored above it.
Even though it is part of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Bryant Park is managed by the private not-for-profit corporation Bryant Park Corporation. The park is cited as a model for the success of public-private partnerships.
Over the last 5 years we’ve seen an increase in the number of couples who met online. Match, JDate, eHarmony – we’ve seen them all…or so we thought! Mike was browsing Tinder, an online smartphone app that displays users who are in proximity to your location, when a girl with a New York Mets jersey and hat, popped on his screen. Being a die hard Mets fan, he swiped right (the indication that he’s interested). A few days later, he got an alert that the two were a match (she swiped right too) and the two began communicating. Bryant Park is one of the signature examples of New York City's revival in the 1990s. With a minimum of crime, the park is filled with office workers on sunny weekdays, city visitors on the weekends, and revelers during the holidays. Daily attendance counts often exceed 800 people per acre, making it the most densely occupied urban park in the world. In 1995, an article about midtown office workers who had found the newly reopened park a good place to go to after work bore the headline "Town Square of Midtown." In the early 2000s, BPRC added a custom-built carousel and revived the tradition of an open-air library, The Reading Room, which also hosts literary events. The Bryant Park Grill and Bryant Park Cafe have become popular after-work spots, and 'wichcraft, the sandwich chain owned by T...

Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple. Citi Pond at Bryant Park is one of the most popular places to go in New York City in the winter time. Citi Pond offers those living in New York (and visiting tourists of course) an opportunity to ice skate on a relatively large (170' by 100') ice rink - much larger than the more famous tourist attraction at Rockefeller Center. Citi Pond is Manhattan's first and only free admission ice skating rink. There are charges however for incidentals related to skating such as skate or lock rental for a locker. Citi Pond is the centerpiece of Bryant Park's winter season, which also includes the annual Holiday Shops at Bryant Park. The rink features free admission ice skating, in addition to high quality rental skates, skating shows, special events, and activities. Whether you are looking to skate be...

Click on http://amzn.to/1OpOjvO. Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan is not nearly as famous as Rockefeller Center as a tourist attraction for New York's holiday shoppers, tourists and visitors. But it's a favorite of local residents who want to enjoy the Christmas spirit with jostling with Christmas crowds. Bryant Park is a 9.6 acre area located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and between 40th and 42nd Streets. The main building of the New York Public Library is located within the park boundaries, with the main entrance on Sixth Avenue. The park has great sightlines to the...

See http://bestnewyorkvideos.com to see more videos about living in New York City, NYC tourist attractions, free things to do and places to go in New York. Bryant Park in NYC is one of the fun free things to do in NYC any time of the year. Bryant Park is probably most famous for CitiPond, a huge ice skating rink (much larger than the more famous tourist attraction at Rockefeller Center). It is also often simply called the pond at Bryant Park by those living in New York City. According to the official Park website: "Bryant Park's Lawn, where thousands of nature-starved office workers gather for lunch on any fine weekday, is planted with a rye/fescue/bluegrass mix. The lawn is as long as a football field (300 feet) and 215 feet wide." The video above was actually shot in Fall as the holi...

Recording of an anti-Vietnam-war rally in Bryant Park, Manhattan (1969) made by Tony Conrad through his open window, sounds coming muffled and delayed. At the same time, the TV is on with the instant broadcast of the same rally. It was funny, Conrad notes: "Because being there is later than the TV. This brings up the notion of the present, whether we live in it or after it. So you have this situation of TV vs. live, or TV vs. the street, all these issues of presence. The tape invokes that time really accurately and thoroughly. It's a big chunk, and that makes things so much different than a sound byte." Bryant Park Moratorium Rally was made available for free download on the Internet on the eve of US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
