AFL boss Gillon McLachlan says there's a "chance" the league could own Etihad Stadium by the end of the year.
It's been reported the AFL could soon pay $150 million to take ownership of the ground earlier than the scheduled 2025 handover.
"We've always said at the right price we'd like to do it. We've been pretty consistent with that message for a long time," McLachlan told Neil Mitchell on Friday.
"There's a chance.
"There was a chance six months ago and a chance a year ago.
"We just keep chipping away."
