Social science at Essex
US Election 2016
The race to the White House in the 58th US Presidential Election has begun. Essex academics
will be on-hand to provide stellar comment and analysis
on subjects ranging from politics to economics and linguistics.
We build knowledge about the world, challenge
conventional wisdom about that world, and create innovative ways to change the
world.
We have a powerful group of scholars, asking critical questions and
challenging convention through their
world-leading social science research (REF
2014). From how best to govern ourselves, to understanding society and how
we acquire language, to how we conduct business and interact with each other, we
answer profound questions.
Our Faculty is home to some of the most highly-rated
social science departments and research centres in the country. We are
training social scientists of the future through our
research-led teaching
at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. Our students learn how
substantive knowledge about the world is created from a hunch and developed into
credible research with well-supported findings.
To know, we must understand how society works, challenge it, and therefore
understand how to make it better. Welcome to social science at Essex.
