Johnny "J.R." Cash (February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author, who was widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide. Although primarily remembered as a country music icon, his genre-spanning songs and sound embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of multiple inductions in the Country Music, Rock and Roll and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.
Cash was known for his deep, calm bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, a rebelliousness coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor, free prison concerts, and a trademark look, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black". He traditionally began his concerts with the simple "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash", followed by his signature "Folsom Prison Blues".
George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, social critic and author. Carlin was noted for his black comedy and his thoughts on politics, the English language, psychology, religion, and various taboo subjects. Carlin and his "Seven dirty words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a 5–4 decision affirmed the government's power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves.
He is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential stand-up comedians: One newspaper called Carlin "the dean of counterculture comedians." In 2004, Carlin was placed second on the Comedy Central list of "Top 10 Comedians of US Audiences" compiled for an April 2004 special. The first of his 14 stand-up comedy specials for HBO was filmed in 1977. From the late 1980s, Carlin's routines focused on sociocultural criticism of modern American society. He often commented on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture. He was a frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade Johnny Carson era, and hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live. His final HBO special, It's Bad for Ya, was filmed less than four months before his death. In 2008, he was posthumously awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Late Show With David Letterman (10 June 1994) "American Recordings" is the 81st album by the country singer Johnny Cash. It was released 21 years ago today (26 April 1994), the first album issued by American Recordings after its name change from Def American, the album being named after the new label. In 2003, the album was ranked number 364 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Cash was approached by producer Rick Rubin and offered a contract with Rubin's American Recordings label, better known for rap and heavy metal than for country music. Under Rubin's supervision, he recorded the album in his living room, accompanied only by his guitar. For years Cash was often at odds with his producers after he had discovered with his first producer, Sam Phillips...

Def Americans - Keep On The Sunny Side - Foggy Mountain Top Live at Theatre "De Voorveghter" in Hardenberg , The Netherlands at April , 28 , 2013. Def Americans is a musical tribute to the Man in Black, Johnny Cash and is named after Johnny's last recording label Def Jam records/American Recordings. This band is all about delivering the songs exactly the way they were meant to. It's the same boom-chicka-boom sound that goes so well with Johnny's voice and that is immediately recognised around the world, even before Johnny starts singing. Sadly, both Johnny and June passed on a few years ago but Def Americans carry on their unique legacy. The Man in Black, his life and his music live on through the Def Americans.

The Johnny Cash Academy of achievement interview on June 25th, 1993 at Glacier Park, Montana. Johnny Cash: "You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space. If you analyze it as you're moving forward, you'll never fall in the same trap twice, which I can't say that I haven't been guilty of doing. But my advice is, if they're going to break your legs once when you go in that place, stay out of there." n.b. the date of this. The incident at the Show in Flint, MI on Saturday 25th is not mentioned at all. At the show there he had dropped his guitar pick and stumbled as he tried to pick it up again; Bob Wotton noticed that he was about to fall down and stepped forward so that Cash could lean on him; Johnny Cash then told the audience that he was suffering from a terminal disease, and would have to take medication for it; with the help of June and the other members of the band the concert was finished early. At first only the local press dealt with Cash's anouncement of Parkinson's; some days later it was announced on CNN International. I bet they would have loved to keep it a secret. The whole thing originally had been a slip of the tongue. I suppose this is the true reason, why he is ...

The Process is the eighth studio album by industrial band Skinny Puppy. Many factors complicated the recording of The Process. The album's producer changed multiple times, from Roli Mosimann to Martin Atkins to Dave Ogilvie. According to cEvin Key, their label, American Recordings, had pressured the band into adopting a more commercial sound or more Industrial metal sound similar to Nine Inch Nails. Following tensions between band members, Nivek Ogre left the band on June 12, 1995. American Recordings decided to drop Skinny Puppy after the release of The Process. The band's keyboardist, Dwayne Goettel, died of a heroin overdose shortly thereafter on August 23, 1995. Following Dwayne's death, cEvin and Dave completed mixing of The Process. The Process was intended to be a concept album abo...
West End Records is an American music record label based in New York City. Led by co-founder Mel Cheeren, West End was one of the most prominent labels in dance music’s history, along with Prelude Records, Salsoul Records, and Casablanca Records. West End Records helped introduce the 12-inch single, the vinyl format popularized by Disco music in the 1970s[1] and subsequently promoted the nascent garage house music pioneered by DJ Larry Levan in Paradise Garage. It was founded by Mel Cheren and Ed Kushins in 1976 and the label went on to define the sound of New York City in the heyday of disco. That sound eventually filtered to dance floors and clubs across the country and around the world. During the disco era, many labels and artists scrambled to put out records that would ride the wave o...
Atlantic Records (Atlantic Recording Corporation) is an American record label best known for its numerous recordings of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, jazz, and hip hop. Over its first 20 years of operation Atlantic earned a reputation as one of the most important American recording labels, specializing in jazz, R&B; and soul recordings by African-American artists, a position greatly enhanced by its distribution deal with Stax Records. In 1967 Atlantic became a wholly owned subsidiary of Warner Bros.-Seven Arts, now the Warner Music Group, and expanded into rock and pop music, signing Cream, Led Zeppelin, Yes and Foreigner. In 2004 Atlantic Records and its sister label Elektra Records merged into Atlantic Records Group. Craig Kallman is currently Chairman of Atlantic Records. Label co-fou...
Foo Fighters is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Foo Fighters, released on July 4, 1995, by Capitol Records through Dave Grohl's label Roswell. Grohl wrote and recorded the entire album himself – with the exception of a guest guitar spot by Greg Dulli – with the assistance of producer Barrett Jones at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle, Washington, in 1994. Grohl claimed he recorded the album just for fun, describing it as a cathartic experience to recover from the death of his Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain. After Grohl completed the recordings, he chose the name "Foo Fighters" for the project to hide his identity and passed cassettes copies of the sessions to personal friends. After said tapes attracted record label interest, Grohl signed with Capitol and recruited a fu...
