The 100-square mile park is mostly open water with seven small islands. One of the best national parks to visit! In the spring of 2016, my daughter and I traveled to Dry Tortugas National Park - 70 miles off Key West - to enjoy four days in this Caribbean paradise. We toured old Fort Jefferson, did some kayaking, snorkeled and camped there for three nights. Definitely one of the top ten national parks! There is a charge for the Dry Tortugas ferry ride and national park fees apply for Dry Tortugas camping. During my trip to Key West I had the opportunity to go on a seaplane from Key West International Airport in Key West Florida to Fort Jefferson, Dry Tortugas National Park. It was an awesome experience. The entire sight seeing flight took around 30 minutes. We flew on a DHC-3T DeHavilland Turbine Otter. Look out for part 2 which is the return flight back.
