    Here’s Trump’s Executive Order. The gist of it is that it tries to strip social media platforms of protection under Section 230(c) when they “edit” content with labels like Twitter did to Trump’s tweets today.

    This order will do more to solidify power by big tech than anything. Pushing for things that will not happen with dopey proclamations like this will stifle real reform and good legislation to rein in big tech. What’s worse than grifters?Dumb grifters:

    Trump can't lawfully repeal Section 230 by EO. Trump can't change Twitter speech policies by EO. The combination of Section 230 and the First Amendment dramatically limit his ability to regulate online speech. And we should all be thankful for those constraints.

    Senator, serious question: Do you ever lie awake at night and truly regret selling your soul to a man who you yourself called a “pathological liar,” “utterly immoral,” and a “narcissist like this country has never seen?”

    Big Tech is the single biggest threat facing our democracy. We know in 2016 social media companies had an outsized role in influencing our presidential election. With another presidential election months away, we need to take action now to curtail that influence.

    those Trump operative put option sellers who happen to make millions every time they play options shouldn’t celebrate just yet.

    NEW: The White House did not consult the FCC on a forthcoming executive order pertaining to social media companies, according to a person briefed on the matter. This suggests the draft order has not gone through the normal interagency review process.

    Also worth remembering that as a general practice, the FCC has repeatedly gone out of its way to avoid regulating websites and internet companies. The FCC’s GOP leadership made it a point to avoid “regulating the internet” when it rolled back its own net neutrality rules.
