STORYLINE:
Pakistan and Indian soldiers exchanged heavy artillery fire on Friday in the northern sector of Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, senior military officers said.
The latest exchange of fire between the two nuclear-rivals erupted when the Pakistan Army took a team of journalists to the tense Gultari sector to show them where, Islamabad claims, the two sides exchanged heavy fire last week.
Pakistan's leaders accused India of launching an unprovoked attack on a Pakistani position on August 23 and claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on the Indian forces. But Indian officials denied there was any kind of attack.
"All the journalists who were taken to the Gultari sector are safe and that they have been evacuated to rear positions by the local Pakistani commander for their safety," an army official said.
Despite the presence of US military observers the daily shelling continues. The US has put forward proposals to provide troops or surveillance equipment to monitor the 742-kilometer Line of Control to ensure militants have stopped infiltrating into Indian Kashmir.

Coordinates: 34°56′N 76°46′E / 34.933°N 76.767°E / 34.933; 76.767
The term Line of Control (LoC) refers to the military control line between the Indian and Pakistani controlled parts of the former princely state of Kashmir and Jammu—a line which, to this day, does not constitute a legally recognized international boundary but is the de facto border. Originally known as the Cease-fire Line, it was redesignated as the "Line of Control" following the Simla Agreement, which was signed on 3 July 1972. The part of the former princely state that is under Indian control is known as the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The two parts of the former princely state that are under Pakistani control are known as Gilgit–Baltistan and Azad Kashmir (AJK). Its northernmost point is known as the NJ9842.
Another ceasefire line separates the Indian-controlled state of Jammu and Kashmir from the Chinese-controlled area known as Aksai Chin. Lying further to the east, it is known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and has been referred to as one of the most dangerous places in the world.

STORYLINE:
Pakistan and Indian soldiers exchanged heavy artillery fire on Friday in the northern sector of Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, senior military officers said.
The latest exchange of fire between the two nuclear-rivals erupted when the Pakistan Army took a team of journalists to the tense Gultari sector to show them where, Islamabad claims, the two sides exchanged heavy fire last week.
Pakistan's leaders accused India of launching an unprovoked attack on a Pakistani position on August 23 and claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on the Indian forces. But Indian officials denied there was any kind of attack.
"All the journalists who were taken to the Gultari sector are safe and that they have been evacuated to rear positions by the local Pakistani commander for their safety," an army official said.
Despite the presence of US military observers the daily shelling continues. The US has put forward proposals to provide troops or surveillance equipment to monitor the 742-kilometer Line of Control to ensure militants have stopped infiltrating into Indian Kashmir.

The area was originally inhabited by the indigenous people of the Karib tribe (that’s why we call them Caribbean) during the pre-colonial era, but after the arrival of Christopher Columbus and the subsequent foundation of a town Cartagena de Indias became one of the most important ports in all America.
The privileged location on the Colombian Atlantic coast gave the Spanish people an enormous commercial power over the northern and southern continental area without a great effort. At that time it was also the perfect destination to visit exotic places and thus Cartagena de Indias became the settlement of high-ranking military and ecclesiastic authorities, along with representatives of the Spanish Crown who made Cartagena the capitol of the Nuevo Reino de Granada.
Due to its wealth Cartagena was also the scene of countless conflicts. Not only Spain but also England and France wanted to get control of the city for economic interests. This led to construction of a strong fortress and the acquisition of weaponry to defend this coveted region. At the beginning it started as coastal defense but soon thereafter a big wall surrounded the whole city with a garrison inside. Today, this part of the town is known as the historic center, the Walled City and Ciudad Amurallada.
Despite its strong fortification Cartagena de Indias was assaulted many times by pirates and troops from England, Holland as well as France; however without success. Eventually, a rebellion broke out which led to the inevitable independence in 1811. When Pablo Morullo tried to get Cartagena back for the Spanish Crown four years later by means of a naval and terrestrial siege, he failed terribly thanks to the heroic resistance propelled by the will for independence.
After the constitution as a republic Cartagena experienced a period of economic weakening as its independence caused the cease of trade relations. However, along with the arrival of the new century of 1900 and major advances in terms of industrialization, overall economy, politics and culture Cartagena gradually regained the prosperity and importance as a strategic point of trade.
By today Cartagena de Indias has become a destination for everyone declared a tourist and cultural district in 1991.

Fira- If you are into night life and a little more hustle and bustle, Fira is the place for you. Fira is Santorini's largest town with the most restaurants, shops and famous Donkey Rides can be found here. Still a ways away from the beach!!

Niki Restaurant- Decent Food, not the best but a great place to watch the sunset in Fira. Not as pricey as one may think. A good meal with drinks will run you €10-25 depending on your appetite.
Murphy's Bar- Contiki mates get 2 for 1 drinks but still costs €10 euro. Good hip hop upstairs. Make your way down the spiral stairs to the bottom floor where it's much more relaxed with oldies/rock/alternative music playing.
Liogerma Cafe- A Contiki sponsored cafe where wine and appetizers are included along with reserved seats to watch Ioa's unforgettable sunset. €25 via Contiki tour.
Red Beach Parking Lot Food Stand- Fresh Fruit Smoothie for €2.50 euro delicious and perfect before making 10-minute hike to the secluded Red Beach.
BOSS Ice Cream Bar- Cookies and Cream. Can Be found at almost every place that sells ice cream in Santorini.
Santa Irini Bakery Shop- Open 24 hours, this place is great to stop by late night after partying by the Black Sand Beaches or anytime during the day for that matter! Very nice people and all their bread, croissants and product is served warm! Their Baklava was phenomenal!!

Shorten your time in the security line with these tips.
Step 1: Check wait time
Log on to the Transportation Security Administration’s website, www.tsa.gov. In the section 'For Travelers,' click on 'Air Travel' and then 'Wait Times.' Plug in your travel information. You’ll be given the approximate security line wait time for your airport, helping you to plan accordingly.
Step 2: Know the drill
Know the basics. Place gels or liquids (other than breast milk, baby formula, and medicine) in 3-ounce (or smaller) bottles. and put those into a clear, self-sealing, one-quart plastic bag. Remove body piercings, belts, change, and your watch ahead of time. Never carry anything that could be used as a weapon, like a hammer or a baseball bat.
Tip
Gel shoe inserts are not allowed.
Step 3: Wear a travel vest and slip-on shoes
Fashion be damned! Comfort before fashion: wear a special travel, safari, or photographer’s vest that features interior pockets for all your electronics. Sport some slip-on shoes so you don’t fumble with laces when removing them. That way, all you have to do is remove your jacket and shoes, put them in a bin, and you’re all set.
Step 4: Boot up your computer
If you’re carrying a laptop, turn it on and put it to sleep before you get in line. Security personnel conduct spot checks to ensure that a computer is really a computer, and having to wait for yours to boot could slow you way down.
Step 5: Fly midday
Whenever possible, book flights that leave between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. That’s when the fewest flights depart, so lines will be shorter.
Step 6: Choose your line wisely
Don’t assume that the shortest line will be the quickest one. Avoid getting behind families with small children, elderly people, and anyone who looks like a novice. Pick the line with the travelers that look the most seasoned, like business people.
Tip
For the shortest line, go to the left. Most people instinctively veer to the right.
Step 7: Layer your carry-on
Pack your carry-on bag in layers — a layer of clothing, then electronics, then another layer of clothes, topped by heavier items like shoes. This helps security officers see what’s in your bag. If it’s a jumbled mess, you might have to wait for a time-consuming hand search.
Step 8: Become a registered traveler
Pay $128 a year to become a registered traveler. Companies like Clear (FlyClear.com) & Flo (FloCard.com) take your biometric information (like fingerprints and iris images) & have a background check performed on you. If you pass, you’re issued an ID card that allows you to sail through special security lines at participating airports.
