White Star (and similar) may refer to:
*I use the year of the maiden voyage to date liners rather than the keel laying or launch. *You may notice that White Star gave all their liners names ending in "ic." Cunard followed a similar tradition with "ia" endings. The first vessel of the combined Cunard-White Star line was the QUEEN MARY which some say was a compromise between an "ic" and "ia" name. She had red Cunard funnels while her enclosed bridge wings and raised white forecastle were classic White Star features. The white forecastle is present today in the livery of the RMS QUEEN MARY 2. http://fav.me/d9ev0d4 *"OCEANIC" was a particularly special name since the legal title of the WSL was "Oceanic Steam Navigation Company (OSNC)." It was the name of their first liner and was also (and still is) the name of White Star's forme...

For commercial usage and all other licensing inquiries please contact Stephen Larkin at White Star Momentos Ltd (www.whitestarmomentos.co.uk). Simply stunning footage filmed by the White Star Line as a promotional film about the Olympic during the early 1920s. We tour the ship in great detail, exploring all its features as she journeys from New York to Southampton over the course of 16 minutes. Originally silent, the audio has been recreated, including the ship's bugler playing the "Roast Beef of Old england" to announce dinner and the Nomadic's whistle. For those who think it is not the Olympic, but Titanic, due to some 'switch' please read the facts here: http://www.williammurdoch...
This is a video I made to dedicate and to reflect the hard times these three sisters had during service and the impact they made to the world with their elegance and beauty. Olympic Titanic Britannic the three that stood up tall over all else and made their way into history to never be forgotten
When the White Star Line ordered OLYMPIC (No. 400) & TITANIC (No. 401) from the shipyards of Harland and Wolff they reserved the right to order a third ship of the class. Their desire to maintain a weekly express sailing on each side of the Atlantic would require three evenly matched vessels (initially the third ship would be the magnificent OCEANIC of 1899). At the close of OLYMPIC's maiden voyage J. Bruce Ismay exercised the option for the third vessel -- the as yet unnamed Hull No. 433. Due to the ever increasing size of their ships, and "ic" naming convention, press speculation about new White Star liners often made use of the name "GIGANTIC." This name was never once used by White Star or Harland and Wolff in reference to the third member of the OLYMPIC Class. Before the summer of 191...

Part 5 of my video tutorial on how to build the White Star Liner MV Britannic (not to be confused with the Olympic class liner and Hospital ship HMHS Britannic) Part 5 sees the construction of the third deck of the ships Superstructure. Boat deck and Boat deck superstructure and Bridge wings Part 6 will focus on the ships wheelhouse and Funnels MV Britannic was a transatlantic ocean liner owned by White Star Line, and was the third company ship to bear the name. Constructed by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, the ship was delivered to White Star Line in 1930 and assigned to the Liverpool-New York line. When White Star Line merged with Cunard Line in 1934, the ship's route changed to the London-New York line, and she later provided winter Mediterranean cruises. During World War II she was ...
On the sun-deck, a lord looks at the foam
Drinks champagne, eats Belouga, the night's long
It's quiet, icebergs pass along
There's no wind, says a lady, but it's cold
On the below-deck, the people dream of something
From tables lit by white candles
What are you doing here? I am lost, says a boy
I can't sleep, says the other, it's so warm
Slowly, with a sigh, the fickelness of fate
Ripped open the hull, tearing it patiently
Ice blade cleaves the iron, it's time to drown our sins
In a delicate screeching, iron tears
The sun-deck shivers, the below-deck screams
Water is gushing up without invitation
Swallowing up mouths, swallowing up noses
And the dreams and the candles, we should have eaten when it was warm
Tonight there's no wind, the ocean is calm and quiet
It's waiting, waiting, catching its breath
It's true it could rain
But quietly the sea is waiting for its children
The howling sea
Do you hear?
I hear nothing
Save our souls, save our souls, help us Marconi, help us
I'm gonna swim straight ahead
Row, Mc Cawley, row
Mayday, mayday, mayday
The below-deck is floaded, the machine have stopped
And the lord, slightly troubled, slowly swallows the finest Calvados
Save our souls
