The Forbes Global 2000 is an annual ranking of the top 2000 public companies in the world by Forbes magazine. The ranking is based on a mix of four metrics: sales, profit, assets and market value. The list has been published since 2004. The Forbes Global 2000 is a useful indicator of which are the leading public companies in the world, but it is only an interpretation, as only public companies are listed. The results are not definitive; any change to the criteria would produce a different list. This video is targeted to blind users. With dire food shortages, hyperinflation and chronic power outages, Venezuela's economic crisis has gone "from bad to worse to horrific." With oil accounting for 95 percent of Venezuela's export earnings, plummeting world prices have sent the South American economy reeling towards collapse: People are going hungry, inflation has spiralled out of control, the military is patrolling supermarkets to keep order amid rising anger, basic raw materials and supplies have run out, and factories are shutting down. According to the World Bank, Venezuela now ranks so low on the list of countries to do business with, it surpasses only Libya, Eritrea and South Sudan. President Nicolas Maduro has turned to selling Venezuela's gold, slashing imports. According to the IMF, the country's gold reserves h...
(Please note: this is the correct slide set for this presentation, there was a session name change that isn't reflected in the title slide). The typical Forbes Global 2000 enterprise has more than 5,000 applications. Amazon EC2 has more than 54,800 possible instance configurations for a simple three-tiered application. Managing the application lifecycle is challenging due to three interrelated degrees of freedom in the cloud: application proliferation, execution venue diversification, and the increase in the rate of change to one or both of the latter. Creating rigid, hard-wired relationships between applications and infrastructure simply won’t scale. What’s needed is the ability to abstract up to the application level, define each application’s topology and dependencies, and use this ...

Forbes entered the Republican primaries for President of the United States in 1996 and 2000, primarily running on a campaign to establish a flat income tax. He also supported the ideas of re-introducing 4 1/2% mortgages and term limits in 1996, but dropped both in 2000 (as they were minor planks in his overall platform). When Forbes ran for president in 1996 and 2000, he sold some of his Forbes, Inc. voting shares to other family members to help finance his run. He did not come close to securing the Republican nomination, despite winning the Arizona and Delaware primaries in 1996 and getting some significant shares of the vote in other primaries. His awkward campaigning style was considered to be a major factor in his defeat.[11] Time Magazine called his stumping a "comedy-club impression...
