Ten years after the NBC sitcom ended, the cast of Will & Grace have reunited to film a scene lampooning Donald Trump's tilt at the presidency.

In the 10-minute video released just hours before the real presidential debate was due to start, the iconic characters Will, Grace, Karen and Jack have been fast-forwarded to 2016 where they're grappling with the rise of Trump's campaign.

Will & Grace: election special

The hit sitcom has reunited for a 10-minute episode that weighs in on the 2016 US Presidential election.

Back in their famous New York apartment, best friends Will and Grace lament the billionaire's slant at presidency when alcoholic aristocrat Karen storms in as a pro-Trump supporter.

"Make America bueno again!" she cheers with a Trump sticker on her $10,000 Hermes handbag.

Sean Hayes, Megan Mullally, Debra Messing and Eric McCormack teased the reunion on social media over the weekend with cryptic pictures of the actors embracing and reading scripts.

On Tuesday morning, Hayes confirmed a Will & Grace reunion was happening, posting an image of the foursome in character as the well-known New York best friends.

Fans speculated a Netflix reunion was in the works, but it was also believed the cast, who are vocal Hillary Clinton supporters, would use their star power to kibosh the Trump campaign.

"Please tell me you're not voting for that guy! All he does is call people names," Will, a gay lawyer, begs Karen in the scene.

Will and Karen then yell at Jack when he reveals he's planning not to vote.

"This is our most important election of our lifetime," says Will.

The video, titled #VoteHoney, comes just days after the cast of award-winning political drama West Wing announced they were reuniting to campaign for Clinton ahead of the November election.

Messing shared a 20-second teaser clip on Twitter on Tuesday with a politically tinged message," A band of heroes will assemble to protect the world from aliens and destruction, only an act of grace can save them in their battle for what is right, only they can bring America back from the brink."

Will & Grace created precedent when it featured two gay leading characters in 1998. Running for eight seasons, the Writers Guild of America put it in their list of the 101 Best Written TV Series of all time.

Vanity Fair had speculated the stars could also be working on a Netflix revival or a reunion episode. Shows from the same area including Fuller House, Gilmour Girls and Arrested Development have all recently mounted comeback campaigns.

The second season of Netflix's Fuller House revival is coming later this year, while a fifth season of Arrested Development is in the works for Netflix. The streaming giant has also resurrected Gilmour Girls as a miniseries coming in November.
