Salim Khan

Salim Khan (Hindi: सलीम खान born 24 November 1935) is a veteran Indian actor and screenwriter. In Hindi cinema, Khan is best known for being one half of the prolific screenwriting duo of Salim-Javed. He is the father of Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan. He has two wives, Sushila Charak (Salma Khan) and actress Helen.

Personal life

Khan was born in Indore in the Central Provinces and Berar (modern day Madhya Pradesh) during British rule. His ancestors are of the Alakozai Pashtun tribe who immigrated from Afghanistan to Madhya Pradesh over 150 years ago. His father was a police officer, while his mother had died when he was still young. In 1964, he married Sushila Charak who later adopted the name 'Salma Khan'. Salma's father Baldev Singh Charak was from Jammu. Salim and Salma have four children together: Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and their daughter Alvira Khan Agnihotri . In 1981, Salim married the actress Helen. They adopted a daughter named Arpita, a daughter of a homeless woman who died on a Mumbai footpath.

Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan (born 27 December 1965) better known as Salman Khan (pronunciation : [səlˈmaːn ˈxaːn];) is an Indian film actor, producer and television personality. He has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide, and is cited in the media as one of the most popular and commercially successful actors of Hindi cinema.

The son of screenwriter Salim, Khan began his acting career with a supporting role in Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988) and achieved breakthrough with a leading role in his next release — Sooraj Barjatya's romance Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). Khan went on to establish himself in Bollywood in the 1990s with roles in several top-grossing productions, including the romantic drama Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), the action thriller Karan Arjun (1995), the comedy Biwi No.1 (1999), and the family drama Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999). For his role in Karan Johar's romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Khan was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. After a brief period of decline in the 2000s, Khan achieved greater stardom in the 2010s by playing the lead role in several successful action films, including Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Kick (2014) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). Nine of the films he has acted in, have accumulated gross earnings of over ₹1 billion (US$15 million), also khan become only actor to give three back to back movies which collect more than ₹200 crore (US$29 million) nett domestically. and he has starred in the highest-grossing Bollywood films of nine separate years which is a Bollywood record. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the 2008 – Rajiv Gandhi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment.

Atul Agnihotri

Atul Agnihotri is an Indian film actor, producer, and director. He started his Bollywood career as an actor but found success as a producer. He is best known for his debut film Sir (1993), which emerged as a commercial and critical success. He went on to act in several other films throughout the 1990s and early 2000s with his most notable hits being Krantiveer (1994), Naaraz (1994), Aatish (1994), Chachi 420 (1997), Yeshwant (1997), and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (2002). In 2011 he produced Bollywood blockbuster Bodyguard.

Career

Agnihotri's career stretches back to 1983 when he made a brief appearance as a child artist in Pasand Apni Apni. He started his film career as an adult in 1993 with Mahesh Bhatt's Sir. He made his directorial debut with the 2004 film Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa which starred his brother-in-law Salman Khan, Bhoomika Chawla, and Preity Zinta in lead roles.

In 2007 he started work on his second directorial film Hello which starred his brother-in-law Sohail Khan, Isha Koppikar and Sharman Joshi and was released on 10 October 2008. Atul's 1st release of 2014, Jai Ho entered 100 crore club. O Teri was his 2nd release of 2014, starring Pulkit Samrat and Sarah Jane Dias, and directed by debutant Umesh Bhisht.

Sohail Khan

Sohail Khan (born 20 December 1969) is an Indian film actor, director and producer who works predominantly in Hindi cinema. He is the younger brother of actors Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan. He produces films under his banner Sohail Khan Productions.

Early life

Sohail Khan was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra to screenwriter Salim Khan and his wife Sushila Charak (Salma Khan). His paternal family is Muslim and is settled in Indore, Madhya Pradesh while his mother is a Hindu. His stepmother, Salim Khan's second wife, is actress Helen. His older brothers are Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan who is married to Malaika Arora Khan who is an actress, VJ and host. His sister, Alvira Khan, is married to Bollywood director Atul Agnihotri, while his younger sister Arpita Khan collaborated with Sneha Ullal for his movie Lucky: No Time for Love, which he produced with Sohail Khan Productions.

Career

Sohail started his career as a film producer and director making his directorial debut with the 1997 action thriller Auzaar which starred his brother Salman and Sanjay Kapoor. He then directed both of his brothers Salman and Arbaaz in the hit film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) and the more successful Hello Brother (1999) under his earlier banner G.S. Entertainment.
