Inside the Story: Phoebe’s Fall

In December 2010, Phoebe Handsjuk was found dead at 24 in the refuse room of a Melbourne apartment building after falling down a garbage chute.  She had plunged  40 metres,  feet first.

But how did she get into the chute? And why?

The Coroner recorded death by misadventure. But there were no fingerprints at the top, and no CCTV footage. Her family doubts the Coroner’s version was even physically possible.

The mystery remains.
