A special shout out to our readers in South Australia who have been plunged into darkness (excepting of course those who take us online, who, unless they charged their devices on Wednesday, are probably incapable of reading this).

As your premier, Jay Weather-event (see what we've done there?) struggled to explain at a press conference Thursday how a properly-run, modern state in a country like Australia manages to be disconnected from the national grid – we found ourselves puzzling over one intriguing detail in this week's great SA energy meltdown. 

It has been widely reported that wind turbines had to be shut down when it got too windy.

Does that seem counter-intuitive to anyone else?
