Casey crime: family fights off gang of teen carjackers, Endeavour Hills gunman threatens shoppers

CRANBOURNE

Three teens have been arrested and another four are under investigation after a family of three fought back during an attempted carjacking in Frankston on September 3. A Scoresby family; a man, 64, a woman, 51, and a man, 21, were driving into James St about 11.50pm when a group of about 10 youths threw a bottle of beer at their car. The 64-year-old driver stopped the car and questioned the teens who then allegedly attacked him. It is alleged a male attempted to steal the car before the victim pulled him from it. The offenders left with the keys. CCTV from a nearby business captured the attack and the police helicopter was used which helped police later arrest a 14-year-old Somers boy, a 16-year-old Cranbourne boy and an 18-year-old Frankston North man running along on Cranbourne Rd. The keys to the car were also found. The three youths will appear at a children’s court at a date yet to be determined.

NARRE WARREN

Two men have been charged following an alleged ram raid in Narre Warren early on September 2. Police were told of the ram raid after a member of the public noticed a van crash through the doors of a camping store and start to load up goods on Narre Warren North Rd soon after 4.30am. Police chased the van for a short time before it sped off. Two men were arrested on the Monash Freeway a short time later and were taken to hospital under police guard. A 26-year-old Plenty man and a 22-year-old Reservoir man were charged with reckless conduct endangering life, robbery and burglary. The pair has been remanded to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on October 10.

ENDEAVOUR HILLS

Police arrested a man who threatened people with a firearm near the Endeavour Hills shopping centre on August 31. A victim was walking to their car near the Raymond McMahon Medical Centre when the offender ran towards him with a black pistol. The man pointed the pistol at him and the victim ran away and called 000. A second victim was walking to their car when the man approached them and pointed the pistol at them. Police arrived and approached the man on the shopping centre grounds. The pistol was found to be an imitation. The man was charged and bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates Court on charges including assault and possessing an imitation firearm.

CRANBOURNE NORTH

At 9pm on August 29 a victim was approached by an unknown male in Woodbine Road, Cranbourne North. The male produced a knife and demanded car keys to his 2001 white Holden Commodore sedan. The car’s registration is RHM184 and was parked in a nearby carpark. The victim fumbled with his keys and dropped them on the ground, and the male picked them up and drove the victim’s car north along Woodbine Road. The robber is described as chubby, approximately 170cm tall and aged 25 or 26. He was caucasian and had an Australian accent. He was wearing a plain light blue hoodie over his head, which was covering part of his face, and grey track suit pants. The vehicle is still missing. BERWICK

On Wednesday August 31 at 6.36am, burglars broke into a house Barak Ave, forcing the garage roller door and an internal door to the house. The victim disturbed two or three unknown males who then left in a dark coloured Mazda 6 sedan towing a box trailer. The first male is described as obese, wearing a light blue coloured hooded ‘Adidas’ branded jumper with a face covering and black shorts and gloves. The second male had an average build and height and was wearing a dark coloured jumper and cap. ENDEAVOUR HILLS

A man has been captured on CCTV leaving an house in Whitestone Court, Endeavour Hills with a cordless drill in the early hours on August 31. The man broke in through the garage and tried to steal a white Ford XC sedan and a Kawasaki Solo, damaging the ignition of both vehicles. He is described as white with a large build, and was wearing shorts, runners and baseball cap. CCTV captured him leaving the address carry a cordless drill. Anyone with information is asked to phone the Narre Warren police or Crime Stoppers.
