Hal Andrew Lindes (born June 30, 1953 in Monterey, California) is an English-American guitarist and film score composer.
In 1979, he played guitar with the rock group Darling. Signed to Charisma Records, they released the single "Do You Wanna" (written by Lindes) and published the album Put It Down To Experience the same year. In 1980 he began recording a solo album with producer Al Kooper, along with Herbie Flowers on bass and John Bradbury (of The Specials) on drums. The project was halted mid-stream when Lindes received an invitation by Mark Knopfler to join the British rock band Dire Straits.
Hal Andrew Lindes became a full-time member of Dire Straits at the end of 1980 while the band were promoting their third album, Making Movies. During his five-year tenure with the group, Dire Straits grew from playing small clubs to performing in sold out stadiums. He featured in their next album, 1982's Love Over Gold as well as the 1983 EP, titled ExtendedancEPlay.
Lindes is one of thirteen parishes (administrative divisions) in Quirós, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias, in northern Spain.
The population is 73.

Dire Straits were a British rock band formed in 1977 by Mark Knopfler (lead vocals and lead guitar), his younger brother David Knopfler (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), John Illsley (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Pick Withers (drums and percussion). Dire Straits' sound drew from a variety of musical influences, including jazz, folk, and blues, and came closest to beat music within the context of rock and roll. Despite the prominence of punk rock during the band's early years, their stripped-down sound contrasted with punk, demonstrating a more "rootsy" influence that emerged from pub rock. Many of Dire Straits' compositions were melancholic. Dire Straits' biggest selling album Brothers in Arms has sold over 30 million copies, and was the first album to sell a million copies on CD.
They also became one of the world's most commercially successful bands, with worldwide records sales of over 100 million. Dire Straits won four Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards—winning Best British Group twice, two MTV Video Music Awards, and various other music awards. The band's songs include "Money for Nothing", "Sultans of Swing", "So Far Away", "Walk of Life", "Brothers in Arms", "Private Investigations", "Romeo and Juliet", "Tunnel of Love", and "Telegraph Road".
Brian Tarquin is an American multi-Emmy Award winning guitarist/composer and the producer of the Guitar Masters Series featuring Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Jimmy Page, Santana, BB King and Joe Satriani. Also known for his work as a Smooth Jazz artist and a music composer receiving 3 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series and also received Emmy nominations in 2001, 2002 and 2004. Tarquin has sold more than 150,000 albums through his career in the USA. He wrote the theme music for MTV's Road Rules, as well as producing music for many other TV shows such as "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "TMZ on TV", America's Next Top Model, ABC's Making The Band, Extra, Alias and the Keanu Reeves film The Watcher. In 2014, Tarquin produced, engineered and composed Guitars For Wounded Warriors, which showcases Tarquin’s guitar prowess alongside such world-class shredders as, Steve Morse, Billy Sheehan, Gary Hoey, Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses), Reb Beach (Whitesnake), Hal Lindes (Dire Straits), Chris Poland (Megadeth) and Chuck Loeb (Fourplay). The album features exclusively released tracks inspired by those military soldiers who fought for our country and released by Cleopatra Records.
Mark Freuder Knopfler, OBE (born 12 August 1949) is a British singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer and film score composer. He is best known as the lead guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for the rock band Dire Straits, which he co-founded with his younger brother, David Knopfler, in 1977.
Since Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, Knopfler has recorded and produced eight solo albums, and, as with his previous band, produced many hit songs. He has composed and produced film scores for eight films, including Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), and Wag the Dog (1997).
In addition to his work with Dire Straits and as a solo artist and composer, Knopfler has recorded and performed with many prominent musicians, including Chet Atkins, Chris Botti, John Anderson, the Chieftains, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Bryan Ferry, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Jools Holland, Sonny Landreth, Phil Lynott, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Sting, and James Taylor, sometimes working as a session musician. He has produced albums for Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, and Randy Newman.
