With the Queen’s birthday public holiday set for this Monday, we’ve put together a list of six family-friendly events taking place on the Gold Coast over the weekend!

1. Gold Coast Festival of Lights

If you haven’t had the chance to check out the festival of lights yet, this is your last chance! The festival of lights boasts a vibrant celebration of Chinese culture, complete with spell bounding light installations, live cultural performances, Chinese handcrafts, food stalls and children’s activities.

The festivities end on the 3rd of October, so don’t miss this dazzling cultural experience.

2. Food Truck Feast

Is there anything better than relaxing by the waterfront, listening to live music and enjoying some of the best selections of foods around?

Well, all your prayers have been answered.

The Gold Coast Food Truck Feast will hit the Broadwater Parklands again this Friday. Not only is the event free, but there will be local entertainers and a vast selection of food made to suit all taste buds. This looks to be the perfect event for the whole family!

3. Opera in the Park

Looking for an outstanding free event to attend this public holiday? Well, look no further than the Opera in the Park!

Starring the talents of Ian Stelake, Lucy Maunder, Judit Molner, The Gold Coast Youth Symphony Orchestra, The Gold Coast Youth Choir, and so much more, this free entertainment event is open to everyone – just make sure to bring a blanket, a picnic rug or a chair and make yourself comfortable!

4. Flavours of Metro Street Party

Roving acrobatics, fire twirlers, balloon twisters, a snake charmer, contortionists, face painters, motorised animal rides… all this and more will be happening at the Flavours of Metro Street Party this Saturday!

This free event will also feature dining experiences, offering a fabulous array of international cuisine and tasting plates.

Local bands Sunset City and Magic Carpet Ride will be playing live music throughout the afternoon, so grab your friends and family because this celebration is not to be missed!
