When it comes to religion, people are constantly seeking answers to life such as what our purpose in life is, why bad things happen, and coping with day-to-day life. Our human nature causes us to yearn for a place to belong. Usually this yearning will result in social groups, joining a church, or some sort of club. While there is nothing wrong with wanting a place to belong, sometimes the desperation of gullible people result in them joining a cult and engaging in religious practices that are not only crazy, but could very well be breaking the law.
But when we look at the facts, almost every religion has something weird going on. This isn’t exclusive to cults. Mainstream Christianity has some weird elements such as the act of communion. Sure, drinking wine and eating wafers seems innocent enough. But when you look at what the food and drink represent, being the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we start to lose our appetites. In a way, are churches committing some sort of spiritual cannibalism? Drinking the blood of Christ for spiritual purity sounds awfully similar to vampirism.
There is a plethora of creepy religions out there that don’t even cause physical harm, such as Spiritualism, which became extraordinarily popular in the 19th century. Part of that was thanks to the Civil War and people losing their loved ones and not being able to bury them. Spiritualism is the belief that living humans can make contact with the dead via a medium. Trying to establish communication with the dead alone is creepy enough as it is. And guess what? Spiritualism is alive and well today with camps running all over the country, and even a small town in New York is dedicated to Spiritualism, called Lily Dale.
Then we have the cults that result in abuse and the death of a massive amount of people. Anytime a religion asks you to take your own life, or to take the life of another person, that is red flags right there. Typically, we want to view religion as the venue where we better the lives of people around us. But there are some cults out there that are dedicated to death and destruction. Common sense would normally tell us to stay away from groups such as these. But as mentioned earlier, sometimes the desperation to belong to a group and to alleviate loneliness overpowers common sense, which is actually pretty terrifying.
If you think this is all we’ll cover in the video, you’re quite wrong. In truth, there are hundreds of cults and religions out there that participate in practices that shouldn’t be legal or allowed to be performed in any venue, public or private. In this video, you will find some of the creepiest cults and religious practices around the world. You might want to take a shower or a bath after you watch this. You will either be so disturbed by what you saw, or it might even cause you to question your own Sunday morning habits if you participate in any of the religious practices mentioned.

About 84% of the world's population is affiliated with one of the five largest religions, namely Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism or forms of folk religion.
With the onset of the modernisation of and the scientific revolution in the western world, some aspects of religion have cumulatively been criticized. Though the religiously unaffliated, including atheism and agnosticism, have grown globally, many of the unaffiliated still have various religious beliefs. About 16% of the world's population is religiously unaffiliated.
The study of religion encompasses a wide variety of academic disciplines, including comparative religion and social scientific studies. Theories of religion offer explanations for the origins and workings of religion.

Religion
Religion (from O.Fr. religion "religious community", from L. religionem (nom. religio) "respect for what is sacred, reverence for the gods", "obligation, the bond between man and the gods") is derived from the Latin religiō, the ultimate origins of which are obscure. One possibility is an interpretation traced to Cicero, connecting lego "read", i.e. re (again) + lego in the sense of "choose", "go over again" or "consider carefully". Modern scholars such as Tom Harpur and Joseph Campbell favor the derivation from ligare "bind, connect", probably from a prefixed re-ligare, i.e. re (again) + ligare or "to reconnect", which was made prominent by St. Augustine, following the interpretation of Lactantius. The medieval usage alternates with order in designating bonded communities like those of monastic orders: "we hear of the 'religion' of the Golden Fleece, of a knight 'of the religion of Avys'".

When it comes to religion, people are constantly seeking answers to life such as what our purpose in life is, why bad things happen, and coping with day-to-day life. Our human nature causes us to yearn for a place to belong. Usually this yearning will result in social groups, joining a church, or some sort of club. While there is nothing wrong with wanting a place to belong, sometimes the desperation of gullible people result in them joining a cult and engaging in religious practices that are not only crazy, but could very well be breaking the law.
But when we look at the facts, almost every religion has something weird going on. This isn’t exclusive to cults. Mainstream Christianity has some weird elements such as the act of communion. Sure, drinking wine and eating wafers seems innocent enough. But when you look at what the food and drink represent, being the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we start to lose our appetites. In a way, are churches committing some sort of spiritual cannibalism? Drinking the blood of Christ for spiritual purity sounds awfully similar to vampirism.
There is a plethora of creepy religions out there that don’t even cause physical harm, such as Spiritualism, which became extraordinarily popular in the 19th century. Part of that was thanks to the Civil War and people losing their loved ones and not being able to bury them. Spiritualism is the belief that living humans can make contact with the dead via a medium. Trying to establish communication with the dead alone is creepy enough as it is. And guess what? Spiritualism is alive and well today with camps running all over the country, and even a small town in New York is dedicated to Spiritualism, called Lily Dale.
Then we have the cults that result in abuse and the death of a massive amount of people. Anytime a religion asks you to take your own life, or to take the life of another person, that is red flags right there. Typically, we want to view religion as the venue where we better the lives of people around us. But there are some cults out there that are dedicated to death and destruction. Common sense would normally tell us to stay away from groups such as these. But as mentioned earlier, sometimes the desperation to belong to a group and to alleviate loneliness overpowers common sense, which is actually pretty terrifying.
If you think this is all we’ll cover in the video, you’re quite wrong. In truth, there are hundreds of cults and religions out there that participate in practices that shouldn’t be legal or allowed to be performed in any venue, public or private. In this video, you will find some of the creepiest cults and religious practices around the world. You might want to take a shower or a bath after you watch this. You will either be so disturbed by what you saw, or it might even cause you to question your own Sunday morning habits if you participate in any of the religious practices mentioned.

In March 2016, the U.S. House of Representatives and Secretary of State John Kerry declared that the Islamic State (ISIS) is committing genocide against Christians, Yazidis, Shi'a Muslims, and other religious and ethnic minority groups in Syria and Iraq. In addition to these and other crimes against humanity, ISIS is also engaging in a campaign of ethnic cleansing against Kurds and even Sunni Muslims. Unfortunately, months later, ISIS and other violent extremist groups continue to target and terrorize their victims through rape, enslavement, and murder, while religious and cultural sites are systematically looted and destroyed.
To inform policymakers about the continuing travail of religious and ethnic minorities threatened by ISIS, and to galvanize long-term thinking about addressing this crisis, the Religious Freedom Project hosted a daylong conference at Georgetown University.
During the conference, representatives of the targeted communities shared their personal experiences of religious persecution and their recommendations for policymakers. Among the questions they engaged were: What are the immediate security challenges posed by ISIS? What can we do now to ensure the viability of vulnerable religious and ethnic communities in Iraq and Syria? What steps need to be taken to ensure religious freedom, and how is religious freedom a possible antidote to future violence? Community representatives were joined by distinguished policymakers, activists, and scholars.
This event was supported by the U.S. State Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom.

No religious organization should have so much control over another so that they are afraid to act on their own. To counsel a woman to remain in an abusive relationship in hopes that an abusive mate will have a change in heart is bad advice. WHO IS R. JEROME HARRIS?
I am a former Minister of 40 years with the Jehovah's Witnesses who quietly left the Watch Tower organization disassociation. I consider myself a Disciple of Christ in the strictest sense. I no longer belong to, nor am I a member of, nor do I hold loyalty or allegiance to any religious organization or religious system. I do not believe The Most High God authorized the establishment of any religious system in existence today; and, especially the one called by men, Christianity. I view Christ as my only Head, Master, Teacher, Owner, and Lord. (John 8:31-32, 1 Cor 11:3) His God is my God and I champion his teachings above anything issuing out of ANY religious organization.
My entire existence is one of worship and obedience to God and service to Christ as his servant. At Luke 9:35 The Most High God commanded that we listen to His Son. This is what I do. I cannot listen to anyone or anything - such as religious organizations, men, women etc - who speak with voices that do not repeat what comes out of Christ's mouth; who is The Word of God (God's Spokesman).
I am a very concerned writer as my conscience and everything that I know and am inside tells me that something is very wrong with what men call Christianity. It does not have the face, the mentality and kind heart of the Christ. It is something else; something evil. It deals with and relishes in concealment, untruth, deception and is death-dealing. It's cruel history is powerful testimony of it's mark of death upon the human family. It is a great impostor and misleader of men. It does so by presenting itself as innocent, chaste and clean on the outside.
I am not here to win arguments or to champion the teaching of one religious organization over another. I can care less about what any of them teach. It is what Christ teaches that is tantamount.
Neither do I engage in besmirching members belonging to the various religious organizations because their views are not in alignment with what I write. It brings me no pleasure seeing others engaging in such activity and I refuse to be drawn into joining others when they do it. It is not the way of the Master.
I can no longer sit idly by in a stagnant and controlled atmosphere of religious organization which places so many in a morally sitting posture. I have stood up, unchained, a free man as Christ has made me, to speak as he taught; unabashed and unafraid of what human entities might say or do.
I have found satisfaction of an insatiable need to be something much more than a reflection of a religious system or religious organization as so so many are in activity to them. I have found it in the unadulterated teachings of my Master, Christ. I must be true to myself, God and Christ. I am a student, disciple, and champion of Christ. I belong to him and I will never let any religious system by any name or claim take me captive again.
Differences of viewpoint on my part will most certainly be misconstrued as besmirching, unfaithfulness, rebelliousness, disloyalty and disobedience to God by those loyal to the religious organizations they belong to. In good conscience I cannot give such loyalty to human entities. I do not praise men no matter what claims they make for themselves or how revered they are to others. Such praise and loyalty belongs to God and Christ;

Former US Representative Frank Wolf (R-VA) led a delegation from the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative, a newly launched religious freedom organization, to northern Iraq earlier this year. The delegation’s trip report documents sharply deteriorating conditions for Iraq’s religious and ethnic minority communities targeted by ISIS.

Faith and faith-based frameworks have been used both to exacerbate and mitigate the causes and impact of violent extremism. This panel explores some of the innovative approaches that are being used to understand and reach out to those who have used religion to frame their alienation and radicalization, and to promote the use of faith in support of dialogue and mutual understanding rather than violence. The challenge is especially complicated as those involved often reject structures and figures of authority, including traditional religious ones.
