The Belfast Telegraph is a daily newspaper published in Belfast, Northern Ireland, by Independent News & Media.
It was first published as the Belfast Evening Telegraph on 1 September 1870 by brothers William and George Baird. Its first edition cost half a penny and ran to four pages covering the Franco-Prussian war and local news.
The evening edition of the newspaper was originally called the "Sixth Late", and "Sixth Late Tele" was a familiar cry made by vendors in Belfast City Centre in the past.
Its competitors are The News Letter and The Irish News but the local editions of the London-based red tops are also competitors, selling at a cheaper price than the 'Tele'.
The Belfast Telegraph was entirely broadsheet until 19 February 2005, when the Saturday morning edition was introduced and all Saturday editions were converted to compact. The weekday morning Compact Edition, launched on 22 March 2005, struggled to replicate the evening newspaper's success. Its editorial content has been much more tabloid, with a greater entertainment story count than the evening paper. Much prominence is given to English-based sport, and some general features and columns are shared with The Independent and Irish Independent.

Belfast (/ˈbɛl.fɑːst/ or /ˈbɛl.fæst/; from Irish: Béal Feirste, meaning "mouth of the sandbanks") is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. Most of Belfast, including the city centre, is in County Antrim, but parts of East and South Belfast are in County Down. It is on the flood plain of the River Lagan. The city's motto is Pro Tanto Quid Retribuamus (roughly Latin for "what shall we give in return for so much").
By population before the 2015 council reform, Belfast was the 17th largest city in the United Kingdom and the second largest on the island of Ireland. It is the seat of the devolved government and legislative Northern Ireland Assembly. At the time of the 2011 census, the city of Belfast had a population of 286,000. With the 2015 council reform it is 333,871 and lies at the heart of the Belfast Urban area, which has a population of 483,418 and the Belfast Metropolitan Area, which had a population of 579,276 at the 2001 census. The larger urban zone, as defined by the European Union, had an estimated total population of 673,000 on 1 January 2012. Belfast was granted city status in 1888.

Around 25 former journalists employed by the Belfast Telegraph - including three former editors - have gathered outside their old workplace for an historic photograph. They got together to record the occasion as the Belfast Telegraph will later this year be moving to new premises. The newspaper has been at it's well-known site on Royal Avenue since 1870.

First Minister Arlene Foster has officially opened the new Belfast Telegraph offices. The newspaper has moved from it's former premises in Royal Avenue - where it was based since it was established in 1870 - to state-of-the-art new modern office suites at Belfast Telegraph House in Clarendon Dock. It was an appropriate day for the official opening of the new offices - as it was on September 1, 1870, that the first copy of the Belfast Evening Telegraph was published. Ms Foster and Leslie Buckley - chairman of Independent News and Media - unveiled a plaque on the editorial floor to officially open the new premises.

Good Vibrations is a Belfast record label and store. Founded by Terri Hooley in the early 1970s, Good Vibrations started out in a small derelict building on Great Victoria Street, Belfast. It is now located on Winetavern Street, Belfast. Hooley's main objective in starting the company was to introduce punk bands from Northern Ireland to the rest of the United Kingdom, as he did not believe Northern groups were given enough attention. The label's first recording was for a local band called Rudi, a single called "Big Time". Hooley would later sign groups such as Victim, The Moondogs, The Shapes, Protex, The Outcasts, The Tearjerkers and The Undertones. Although the Undertones were to become the most famous of all these bands, Hooley was unsure, at first, whether or not he should sign them. "...

Maud Kells, Christian missionary with WEC International to the Democratic Republic of Congo, shares her life story with young people at Banbridge Baptist Youth Rally. She tells how she became a Christian whilst training to be a nurse in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast; and then was led by God into full-time Christian service as a missionary to Africa. She recalls how bandits shot her in January 2015, and how God graciously saved her life and has opened more doors for her to tell others about her Saviour, Jesus Christ. Although she doesn't mention it in the video, she was awarded an OBE in January 2015, and in March 2015, she was named Belfast Telegraph Woman of the Year
