Si Racha (Thai: ศรีราชา; pronounced [sǐː rāː.t͡ɕʰāː]) is a subdistrict and town in Thailand on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 120 km south-east of Bangkok in Amphoe Si Racha, Chonburi Province. Si Racha is known as the provenance of the popular hot sauce, Sriracha, which is named after the town.
The municipality was created as a sub-district municipality (thesaban tambon) in 1945. In 1995 the sub-district municipality was upgraded to a town municipality (thesaban mueang).
Racha (also Račha, Georgian: რაჭა, Račʼa) is a highland area in western Georgia, located in the upper Rioni river valley and hemmed in by the Greater Caucasus mountains. Under Georgia’s current subdivision, Racha is included in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region (mkhare) as the municipalities of Oni and Ambrolauri.
Racha occupies 2,854 km2 in the north-eastern corner of western Georgia. Spurs of the Greater Caucasus crest separates Racha from the Georgian historical regions of Svaneti and Lechkhumi on the north-west and from Imereti on the south, while the main Caucasus ridge forms a boundary with Russia’s North Ossetia. On the east, Racha is bordered by breakaway South Ossetia, officially part of Georgia’s Shida Kartli region.
Racha had been part of Colchis and Caucasian Iberia since ancient times and its main town Oni was said to have been founded by King Parnajom of Iberia in the 2nd century BC. Upon creation of the unified Georgian kingdom in the 11th century, Racha became one of the duchies (saeristavo) within it. Rati of the Baghvashi family was the first duke (eristavi) appointed by King Bagrat III. Descendants of Rati and his son Kakhaber, eponymous father of Racha’s ruling dynasty of Kakhaberisdze, governed the province until 1278. In 1278 King David VI Narin abolished the duchy during his war against the Mongols. In the mid-14th century, the duchy was restored under the rule of the Charelidze family.

This is a short little walk around tour of a town called Si Racha which is in the Chonburi province of Thailand about an hour South of Bangkok and 12 kilometer north of Pattaya. There are a lot of Japanese companies and a large Japanese community in Si Racha with very little westerners. The downtown entertainment area is catered to Japanese. Maybe I can show that in a future video. Si Racha is a nice size with all the conveniences you need yet not overly crowded or congested like Bangkok. Once a fishing town, Pattaya first boomed as an R&R; (military) destination during the Vietnam War and developed into a family-oriented[citation needed] seaside destination. Foreign tourism to Thailand as a whole in 2007 amounted to 14.5 million visitors.[6] Activities include playing golf (21 golf courses within 1 hour of Pattaya,) go-kart racing, and visiting different theme parks and zoos such as the Elephant Village, where demonstrations of training methods and ancient ceremonial re-enactments are performed daily. The private Sri Racha Tiger Zoo features tigers, alligators, and other animals in daily shows. The Vimantaitalay tourist submarine offers 30 minute trips underwater to see corals and marine life just a few kilometers offshore. Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden about 15 kilo...
Sri Racha Tiger Zoo. This Zoo is one I missed when I visited Sri Racha in May 2010. So on the 28th June 2014, I finally got there. I went by Taxi, my friend Sutin driving me from Bowin. The car park was full of coach tours, other private cars and even more taxis. This Zoo can also be reached from highway number 7 the Bangkok to Pattaya Motorway, follow the signs for about 2 kilometres. It was opened in 1997 and since then over 10 million visitors have enjoyed their time there. Travelling from Pattaya, it's about a 30 minute journey by car. If you don’t have a car then you can book a day trip to this Sri Racha Tiger Zoo through the many travel agents around Pattaya. Many hotels have a travel agent sited in the reception lobby of the hotel. If you are travelling from Bangkok you can use p...
The Sriracha Tiger Zoo is a zoo in Sri Racha, a city on the outskirts of Pattaya, a city in the Chonburi Province of Thailand known as the seaside resort of Thailand. It is about 60 miles from Bangkok. The zoo claims a population of 200 tigers and around 10,000 crocodiles, the largest such populations in the world. Admission in 2009 (2552) was 350 Baht for foreigners and 120 Baht for Thai. Photographs of a female tiger nursing piglets wrapped in tiger skin, accompanied by a fictitious story about a zoo in California, were actually taken at Sriracha. The Animal Welfare Institute reported in 2004 that the zoo had been using tigers and elephants in circus shows, including tigers leaping through rings of fire, walking across a double tightrope, parading around a ring on hind legs, and riding o...

We drove from Pattaya to Siracha with the car to take the ferry boat to Koh Sichang. The boat leaves at ko Loy pier. In the weekends it is hard to find a parking space on the pier. So better park in the town and take a tuk tuk to the pier. You can travel to Siracha by bus or by train. Siracha is about 35-40 km from pattaya and 65-70 km from Bangkok. There are several piers to take the boat to Ko Si Chang. But this is the shortest from Bangkok. Ticket is 50 Thai baht for 1 person, 1 way. And it takes about 1 hour to get there. The boat takes a short stop at a small island Ko kham Yai before Koh Sichang. The way back from the island to the mainland is faster. About 40 minutes. see Part 2 of my Ko Sichang series here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQIWu... see part 3 of my KoSichang...
