Seven Year Switch couple Jackie and Tim 'shocked' by new parenthood

Three weeks after announcing the birth of their son, Chadwick Wolf Naugton, Seven Year Switch couple Jackie Martin and Tim Naughton have shared something most new parents can relate to: life with a newborn is tough on relationships.

In an interview with New Idea, the pair – who chose to stay together after appearing on the controversial reality TV show –revealed that they're now sleeping in separate bedrooms.

"I've changed rooms, sleeping in a different bedroom, " Tim told New Idea, describing that because he needs to get up early for work the arrangement makes sense.

"I've started a bad habit of having Chadwick in our bed," Jackie added. "So he's in our bed, and I put on all the lights when I feed him every three hours. It makes sense for Tim to sleep in another bed."

Despite sleeping in separate rooms the engaged couple say their relationship is "stronger than ever". They do, however, admit that having a newborn causes arguments and that sleep deprivation is stressful.

Jackie told New Idea that parenthood has been a shock for her partner.

"I don't think he thought it would be this hard," she said.

After announcing Chadwick's birth on instagram, the young couple shared that they would be "unplugging" for a little while to spend time with their baby.

Now, three weeks on, Jackie told New Idea of the intense emotions she's experienced since her little one - who they'll nickname "Chad" or "Chaddy", joined their family.

"Your love is so much stronger," she says, " and you feel so protective".
