That's it for tonight's clash at Brookvale Oval. Manly are off the mark and the Sharks have plenty to think about. There will be a match report on smh.com.au shortly.
Enjoy your week sports fans.
High-fives for Manly players. Head-shaking for the boys in black, white and blue. Trent Barrett has his first NRL victory. Manly 22-12
After Cronulla cough the ball up again, Manly do the same thing. Manly are gonna win this game, but it has been as much to do with a poor final 60 minutes from Cronulla as it is their own play. They aren't out of the woods yet as far as their poor start to the year is concerned.
Manly come within a whisker of ending any doubt, but Steve Matai spills it just short of the line. Cronulla have four minutes to score two tries. Good luck with that. Manly 22-12
Tom Trbojevic scores after another Cronulla error. A great pass from James Maloney was dropped by Sosaia Feki. Bad move Sosaia. Trbojevic sprints 50m and then out-wrestles Ben Barba to get the ball down. Cronulla have hurt themselves once again. Manly 22-12 after 74 minutes
Back to topThe Sharks start a new set. Before the score they need to get back down Manly's end. A strong charge from Andrew Fifita helps their cause. But the momentum ends when Jake Trbojevic smashes James Maloney and he loses the ball. Manly 18-12 with 10 minutes remaining
The pressure pays off as Valentine Holmes scores. Jorge Taufua came flying out of the line but got no-one. Holmes' try sets up a grandstand finish. James Maloney misses the conversion. Manly 18-12
After a period of pressure the Sharks have got themselves a series of penalties. Manly look happy to keep giving them away in order to take the momentum out of the game.
Cronulla have 20 minutes to score two tries if they are to regain the lead. They went close there but Manly saved the day courtesy of Jorge Taufua.
If you didn't voted in our web poll in the first half, here's your chance.
Back to topManly are now winning the battle in the middle of the field. Their forwards are consistently getting over the advantage line. Cronulla, who looked good for much of the first half, are now searching for answers. Will they find any?
That error really hurt the Sharks. Manly went down the other end and scored the try that has given them the lead. Tom Trobojevic toed the ball through after getting to a short kick and Brett Stewart did the rest. The bloke can sniff out a try at Brookie, that's for sure. Jamie Lyon converts. Manly 12-8
Cronulla, you're not helping yourself here. Their last tack options have been poor. In the latest instalment, James Maloney kick the ball into the back of Michael Ennis who was in front of him.
More bunker work. And once again it is a no try. This time it is Martin Taupau who knocked the ball on after stripping it in the in-goal area. On with the game. Cronulla 8-6
The refs decision in confirmed even though it appears the Sharks didn't make it to the try line. That's as strange a decision as I've seen from the bunker crew.
Back to topBunker time. The Sharks are over, but referee Ben Cummins thinks there has been a double movement.
Manly have given away another cheap penalty. Surely over the opening three weeks someone has told them such tactics aren't beneficial.
We're back for the second half. Manly need to win this. If they are 0-3 the critics will be lining up seven deep.
Here's an indication of how much defending Manly were asked to do in the first half.
Matt Parcell - 29 tackles
Daly Cherry-Evans - 25 tackles
Jake Trbojevic - 25 tackles
Tom Symonds - 23 tackles
Nate Myles - 20 tackles
Here's some good Twitter banter...
