1-17-2015 - A Myanmar woman beheaded in a Saudi street this week for killing her husband's young daughter is seen screaming her innocence in a video posted on the Internet Saturday.
Saudi authorities have arrested someone for filming the incident, said local newspaper websites, including Okaz and Al-Riyadh, in reports accompanied by still shots from the recording.
They did not say what the arrest was for.
The official Saudi Press Agency said Monday that Layla bint Abdul Mutaleb Bassim was executed in the Muslim holy city of Mecca for killing her husband's six-year-old daughter.
"Investigations led to her trial which proved she was guilty," the interior ministry said, quoted by SPA.
The child, also "Burmese," died from a beating and from being raped with a broomstick, it said.
"I did not kill. There is no God but God. I did not kill," cries the woman, covered in black, apparently kneeling on the pavement circled by police officers in the video on LiveLeak.
"Haram. Haram. Haram. Haram. I did not kill ... I do not forgive you ... This is an injustice," she screams in Arabic, using the Islamic term for something that is forbidden.
The executioner, dressed in a white robe, forces her to lie down on the ground, near a pedestrian crossing. Mountains are seen in the distance.
"I did not," she continues before a final scream as the executioner's curved sword severs her head, in a traditional execution for the kingdom, which carries out death sentences in public.
A voice then reads out her crime.
Many Twitter users protested the video being circulated on the Internet because it could be seen by the woman's family, but did not object to the beheading itself.
Several other videos purportedly showing beheadings in Saudi Arabia have circulated online over the past three years.
Bassim was one of 10 people beheaded so far this year under the kingdom's strict version of Islamic sharia law.
Saudi Arabia executed 87 people last year, up from 78 in 2013, according to an AFP tally.
A United Nations special rapporteur has said trials leading to the death penalty in Saudi Arabia are "grossly unfair".posted
The kingdom had the third-highest number of recorded executions in 2013, behind Iran and Iraq, Amnesty International says.
Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are punishable by death in the oil-rich Gulf state that is a close ally of Washington.
Saudi authorities identified Bassim as holding "Burmese nationality", using the former name for Myanmar, but did not specify if she was from its Rohingya Muslim community.
Myanmar's embassy said that without seeing her passport, it could not confirm whether or not she was a citizen.

If the Islamic State has uniquely promoted itself as a terrorist group of the digital age, propagandizing, it seems, its every atrocity on video, then perhaps it is only fair that it answers to the digital age as well. The ridicule has come in nearly all forms — cartoons, videos, songs and stories — and from all quarters, though mostly from Muslims themselves.
James B. Hoesterey, assistant professor of religion and Islamic studies at Emory University in Atlanta, said the reason Islamic State fighters made such a good target was “most Muslims don’t agree with their theology.”
“I think the most important videos for my perspective are those that show them as not very pious,” he added in a telephone interview.
He pointed to an example from a Palestinian comedy show, “Watan ala Watar.” In one scene, Islamic State fighters stop a man at a checkpoint and ask where he is from. Hearing his answer, the two militants have an exchange about “how good the girls are there,” Mr. Hoesterey said. “This is making an implicit attack on their piety.”
Others — like Giora Zinger, Yossi Gavni and Omer Burshtein, stand-up comedians from Israel who are the writers and actors of the blooper video — have sought to turn the group’s own penchant for slick video production on its head.
“I was thinking that their beheading videos look like very organized productions,” Mr. Zinger said by telephone. “They shoot in two angles, and the sound is very clear, and it is recorded with good equipment. I was thinking, What happened behind the scenes?”
Mr. Gavni added, “We tried to focus on the absurd, that for ISIS, it is a bad thing to show people kissing, but to show beheadings is good.”

An Islamic State video has appeared which purports to show the beheading of Steven Sotloff, a US journalist being held hostage by the militants.
Mr Sotloff, 31, disappeared in Syria in 2013. He appeared at the end of a video last month which showed fellow US journalist James Foley being killed.
A militant in the video also threatens to kill a hostage said to be British.
After Mr Foley's death, Mr Sotloff's mother appealed to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to save her son's life.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said US officials were checking the reports.
The US has recently carried out dozens of air strikes against IS targets in Iraq.

Decapitation
Decapitation (from Latin, caput, capitis, meaning head) is the complete separation of the head from the body. In humans, decapitation always results in death, since severing the head deprives all other organs of the involuntary functions that are essential for the body to function while the brain itself is deprived of oxygenated blood.
The term beheading refers to the act of deliberately decapitating a person, either as a means of murder or execution; it may be accomplished, for example, with an axe, sword, knife, or by other more sophisticated means such as a guillotine. An executioner who carries out executions by beheading is called a headsman. Accidental decapitation can be the result of an explosion, car or industrial accident, improperly administered execution by hanging or other violent injury. The national laws of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Qatar permit beheading, but in practice, Saudi Arabia is the only country that continues to behead its offenders regularly as a punishment for crime.

1-17-2015 - A Myanmar woman beheaded in a Saudi street this week for killing her husband's young daughter is seen screaming her innocence in a video posted on the Internet Saturday. Saudi authorities have arrested someone for filming the incident, said local newspaper websites, including Okaz and Al-Riyadh, in reports accompanied by still shots from the recording. They did not say what the arrest was for. Video Shows Beheading Of Another American Journalist Steven Sotloff
An Islamic State video has appeared which purports to show the beheading of Steven Sotloff, a US journalist being held hostage by the militants. Mr Sotloff, 31, disappeared in Syria in 2013. He appeared at the end of a video last month which showed fellow US journalist James Foley being killed. A militant in the video also threatens to kill a hostage said to be British. After Mr Foley's death, Mr Sotloff's mother appealed to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to save her son's life. White House spokesman Josh Earnest said US officials were checking the reports. Saudi authorities have arrested someone for filming the incident, said local newspaper websites, including Okaz and Al-Riyadh, in reports accompanied by still shots from the recording.
They did not say what the arrest was for.
The official Saudi Press Agency said Monday that Layla bint Abdul Mutaleb Bassim was executed in the Muslim holy city of Mecca for killing her husband's six-year-old daughter.
"Investigations led to her trial which proved she was guilty," the interior ministry said, quoted by SPA.
The child, also "Burmese," died from a beating and from being raped with a broomstick, it said.
"I did not kill. There is no God but God. I did not kill," cries the woman, covered in black, apparently kneeling on the pavement circled by police officers in the video on LiveLeak.
"Haram. Haram. Haram. Haram. I did not kill ... I do not forgive you ... This is an injustice," she screams in Arabic, using the Islamic term for something that is forbidden.
The executioner, dressed in a white robe, forces her to lie down on the ground, near a pedestrian crossing. Mountains are seen in the distance.
"I did not," she continues before a final scream as the executioner's curved sword severs her head, in a traditional execution for the kingdom, which carries out death sentences in public.
A voice then reads out her crime.
Many Twitter users protested the video being circulated on the Internet because it could be seen by the woman's family, but did not object to the beheading itself.
Several other videos purportedly showing beheadings in Saudi Arabia have circulated online over the past three years.
Bassim was one of 10 people beheaded so far this year under the kingdom's strict version of Islamic sharia law.
Saudi Arabia executed 87 people last year, up from 78 in 2013, according to an AFP tally.
A United Nations special rapporteur has said trials leading to the death penalty in Saudi Arabia are "grossly unfair".posted
The kingdom had the third-highest number of recorded executions in 2013, behind Iran and Iraq, Amnesty International says.
Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are punishable by death in the oil-rich Gulf state that is a close ally of Washington.
Saudi authorities identified Bassim as holding "Burmese nationality", using the former name for Myanmar, but did not specify if she was from its Rohingya Muslim community.
Myanmar's embassy said that without seeing her passport, it could not confirm whether or not she was a citizen.

Hearing his answer, the two militants have an exchange about “how good the girls are there,” Mr. Hoesterey said. “This is making an implicit attack on their piety.”
Others — like Giora Zinger, Yossi Gavni and Omer Burshtein, stand-up comedians from Israel who are the writers and actors of the blooper video — have sought to turn the group’s own penchant for slick video production on its head.
“I was thinking that their beheading videos look like very organized productions,” Mr. Zinger said by telephone. “They shoot in two angles, and the sound is very clear, and it is recorded with good equipment. I was thinking, What happened behind the scenes?”
Mr. Gavni added, “We tried to focus on the absurd, that for ISIS, it is a bad thing to show people kissing, but to show beheadings is good.”

An Islamic State video has appeared which purports to show the beheading of Steven Sotloff, a US journalist being held hostage by the militants.
Mr Sotloff, 31, disappeared in Syria in 2013. He appeared at the end of a video last month which showed fellow US journalist James Foley being killed.
A militant in the video also threatens to kill a hostage said to be British.
After Mr Foley's death, Mr Sotloff's mother appealed to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to save her son's life.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said US officials were checking the reports.
The US has recently carried out dozens of air strikes against IS targets in Iraq.

This documentary, by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.d. is based on 20 years research and consists entirely of archival photos and film-clips. Part 2 is a continuation from Part 1. This film begins with an overview of Japan and China at the beginning of the 20th Century, explains the mind-set of the Japanese and their God, Hirohito, and then continues with the invasion of China, the crimes committed by the Japanese (during the Fall) on the road to Nanjing, the Nanjing Massacre, the rape of the Philipines, Unit 731, the Baatan death camps, Japanese denials, and the dropping of the A-bomb on Japan.
The purpose of this film is educational, and to explain the mind-set that led to a horrible crime: the torture and murder of 280,000 civilians by Japanese soldiers who took great pleasure in raping, bayonetting, beheading and burning people alive. We wish to emphasize: These crimes took place throughout Asia, and the Japanese planned the same for the White races as well, including America.
Those who do not learn from the past, are condemned to repeat it. The purpose of this film is, thus, educational. We have no hatred for the Japanese people.

Our film was shown in Nanking in December of 2007, the 70th anniversary of the Rape of Nanking. Unlike the Leonsis film which failed in Nanking, the showing of our film was a tremendous success and the theater was packed and people stood and lined the walls. A second showing in Wuhan China was even more successful. Whereas, in China, the Leonsis film was shown largely to empty seats, over 1,800 people showed up to watch our film in Wuhan and 300 had to be turned away.
China Central TV called our film "the best... most influential film ever made on this tragedy."
Indeed, our film has been viewed an estimated 16 million times world wide, 100s of copies of this film are hosted on Chinese websites, and it has been viewed over 6 million times in the US.
