Besides journals, the Institute publishes books and book series in collaboration with a number of renowned international academic publishers.
Initially the focus was on publishing source publications, based on the important classic collections in the Institute. Of these, the most important is the Marx-Engels Gesamtausgabe (MEGA).
The publication policy of the IISH in the last two decades has developed in close connection with the Institute’s research policy in the direction of comparative, transnational and global social and labour history. This development is reflected in the current book series.
