Due to major weekday track work, for one day only, there was no (A) Train service between Euclid Ave and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd/Howard Beach-JFK Airtrain. Majority of Queens Division and some of the Brooklyn Division buses contributed to the shuttle bus cause.
Shuttle service operated in two sections:
(1.) Local between Euclid Ave and Howard Beach-JFK/Airtrain, making all stops.
(2.) Non-stop Express, via Leffterts Blvd, North Conduit Ave, & Pitkin Ave.

In order to solve the transportation problem of Dhaka City, the Strategic Transport Plan (STP) for Dhaka City was initiated in March, 2004 by GOB with the assistance of World Bank, and with Louis Berger Inc. as Principal Consultants and Bangladesh Consultant Ltd. as local partner. In August, 2004 an Advisory Committee comprising of some 32 members from different categories of professionals, engineers, planners, architects, academics and civil servants was appointed to guide and oversee the work of the consultants. The plan (STP) was completed in December, 2005.
The Strategic Transport Plan (STP) has made some strategic recommendations to solve the transportation problems of Dhaka City. The major components of the Strategic Transport Plan are the following:
(A) Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, which include the following components :
a) Three Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Routes of total length of about 200km. at a total cost of U. S. $ 1.0 billion
b) Three Metro Lines with an estimated cost of about U. S. $ 2.1 billion, or Taka 14,500 crore
(B) 50 Roadway Projects including the following components
a) Three elevated expressways: Gulistan-Jatrabari Flyover; Gulistan - Mohakhali Elevated Expressway; and Moghbazar Flyover; and
b) Two Bypass Roads: the Eastern Bypass and the Western Bypass.
The STP recommendations are highly capital-intensive option that will require a total investment of US$ 5.52 billion or Taka 38,000 crores for its implementation, but the benefits which will be achieved out of this investment will not be very significant. Some of the capital-intensive projects as recommended in the STP are discussed below :
Metro System: The STP team has recommended a Metro System comprised of three Metro Lines at a total cost of U.S. $ 2.1 billion or Taka 14,500 crores. The total length of the Metro Lines is not known, but I guess it will be about 70 km. in length. If we consider that people will walk down to Metro Stations from a distance of 1 km. to avail the Metro service, then the area-coverage of Metro service will only be about 140 sq. km. But, the total area of Dhaka Metropolitan City (RAJUK area) is about 1530 sq. km. Hence, the area-coverage of Metro Service will be less than 10 percent of total area of Dhaka Metropolitan City.

UPDATE..October 2014..Unfortunately, this bus service in Brownsville has become one of the most horrible and inefficient in the nation. Half the buses break down daily...Don't count on your bus being at the bus stop on schedule because more than half the time it's not!..and more often than not, it may not show up at all. Don't expect to be able to read the transfer or pass card you get out of the machine on the bus because they NEVER put any ink in the machines. Now, almost half the machines don't even work at all. You would think you are in a third world country when you get on one of these overcrowded buses...This new bus station Is located off of International Boulevard just two blocks from the International Bridge To Matamoros Mexico. Here you can get local buses to most locations in the City Of Brownsville.There is a Subway Restaurant and Church's Fried Chicken. Also you can connect to Valley Metro mini buses to Harlingen and Port Isabel, with connections to South Padre Island. Howard Beach – JFK Airport (IND Rockaway Line)
Howard Beach – JFK Airport is a station on the IND Rockaway Line of the New York City Subway. Located at Coleman Square between 159th Avenue and 103rd Street in Howard Beach, Queens, it is served by the A train at all times.
History
The station originally opened in April 1913 as a Long Island Rail Road station, which replaced the former 1899-built Ramblersville station that was built 0.2 miles to the south. In 1923, the station was retrofitted with sheltered sheds on both sides of the tracks. On May 7–8, 1950 a fire that broke out between The Raunt and Broad Channel stations destroyed the bridge over Jamaica Bay, and the line was acquired by the New York City Transit Authority. On June 27, 1955, this station, along with all the rest of the Rockaway Beach Branch stations that were south of the now defunct Ozone Park station, was taken out of service due to an eight-month restructuring and upgrading of the train tracks, so that these tracks could accurately comply with the New York City Transit standards to rapidly transport the subway trains. On June 28, 1956, the Howard Beach station was reopened as the subway station that it is today and the previous Long Island Rail Road station of this stop was razed.

In order to solve the transportation problem of Dhaka City, the Strategic Transport Plan (STP) for Dhaka City was initiated in March, 2004 by GOB with the assistance of World Bank, and with Louis Berger Inc. as Principal Consultants and Bangladesh Consultant Ltd. as local partner. In August, 2004 an Advisory Committee comprising of some 32 members from different categories of professionals, engineers, planners, architects, academics and civil servants was appointed to guide and oversee the work of the consultants. The plan (STP) was completed in December, 2005.
The Strategic Transport Plan (STP) has made some strategic recommendations to solve the transportation problems of Dhaka City. The major components of the Strategic Transport Plan are the following:
(A) Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, which include the following components :
a) Three Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Routes of total length of about 200km. at a total cost of U. S. $ 1.0 billion
b) Three Metro Lines with an estimated cost of about U. S. $ 2.1 billion, or Taka 14,500 crore
(B) 50 Roadway Projects including the following components
a) Three elevated expressways: Gulistan-Jatrabari Flyover; Gulistan - Mohakhali Elevated Expressway; and Moghbazar Flyover; and
b) Two Bypass Roads: the Eastern Bypass and the Western Bypass.
The STP recommendations are highly capital-intensive option that will require a total investment of US$ 5.52 billion or Taka 38,000 crores for its implementation, but the benefits which will be achieved out of this investment will not be very significant. Some of the capital-intensive projects as recommended in the STP are discussed below :
Metro System: The STP team has recommended a Metro System comprised of three Metro Lines at a total cost of U.S. $ 2.1 billion or Taka 14,500 crores. The total length of the Metro Lines is not known, but I guess it will be about 70 km. in length. If we consider that people will walk down to Metro Stations from a distance of 1 km. to avail the Metro service, then the area-coverage of Metro service will only be about 140 sq. km. But, the total area of Dhaka Metropolitan City (RAJUK area) is about 1530 sq. km. Hence, the area-coverage of Metro Service will be less than 10 percent of total area of Dhaka Metropolitan City.

Half the buses break down daily...Don't count on your bus being at the bus stop on schedule because more than half the time it's not!..and more often than not, it may not show up at all. Don't expect to be able to read the transfer or pass card you get out of the machine on the bus because they NEVER put any ink in the machines. Now, almost half the machines don't even work at all. You would think you are in a third world country when you get on one of these overcrowded buses...This new bus station Is located off of International Boulevard just two blocks from the International Bridge To Matamoros Mexico. Here you can get local buses to most locations in the City Of Brownsville.There is a Subway Restaurant and Church's Fried Chicken. Also you can connect to Valley Metro mini buses to Harlingen and Port Isabel, with connections to South Padre Island. Filming commences by The University of Nottingham moving onto the Broadmarsh Bus Station with a brief trip to Trent Bridge. Moving back into the City Centre this video looks at some of the routes which run down Maid Marian Way and up to Canning Circus before moving into the City centre once more looking mainly at the bus scene, there is a random selection of the Indigo bus service which is undergoing a refresh program of its fleet.
