Myanmar (myan-MARi/miɑːnˈmɑːr/ mee-ahn-MAR,/miˈɛnmɑːr/ mee-EN-mar or /maɪˈænmɑːr/ my-AN-mar (also with the stress on first syllable); Burmese pronunciation: [mjəmà]), officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and also known as Burma, is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia bordered by Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand. One-third of Myanmar's total perimeter of 1,930 km (1,200 miles) forms an uninterrupted coastline along the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. The country's 2014 census revealed a much lower population than expected, with 51 million people recorded. Myanmar is 676,578 square kilometres (261,227 sq mi) in size. Its capital city is Naypyidaw and its largest city is Yangon (Rangoon).
Early civilisations in Myanmar included the Tibeto-Burman-speaking Pyu city-states in Upper Burma and the Mon kingdoms in Lower Burma. In the 9th century, the Bamar people entered the upper Irrawaddy valley and, following the establishment of the Pagan Kingdom in the 1050s, the Burmese language, culture and Theravada Buddhism slowly became dominant in the country. The Pagan Kingdom fell due to the Mongol invasions and several warring states emerged. In the 16th century, reunified by the Taungoo Dynasty, the country was for a brief period the largest empire in the history of Southeast Asia. The early 19th century Konbaung Dynasty ruled over an area that included modern Myanmar and briefly controlled Manipur and Assam as well. The British conquered Myanmar after three Anglo-Burmese Wars in the 19th century and the country became a British colony. Myanmar became an independent nation in 1948, initially as a democratic nation and then, following a coup d'état in 1962, a military dictatorship. While the military dictatorship formally ended in 2011, most of the party leaders are former military officers.

8888 is a significant mile stone for Burmese people's road to freedom. It is safe to say that Burmese people's desire to overturn brutal regime during 8888 revolution remains unchanged, so does the regime's oppression on Burmese people. This documentary highlights the history of military dictators and how they turn a country with rich natural resources into one of the poorest country in the world, how more than a million people have been forced from their homes and untold thousands killed, tortured and subjected to slavery.

HG Travel's Destination Video Guide on Myanmar. 'This is Burma', wrote Kipling. 'It is quite unlike any place you know about.' How right he was, and more than a century later Myanmar remains a world apart. Contemplate 4000 sacred stupas scattered across the plains of Bagan. Stare in disbelief at the golden rock teetering impossibly on the edge of a chasm. Encounter men wearing skirt-like longyi, women smothered in thanaka (traditional make-up) and betel-chewing grannies with blood red juices dripping from their mouths -- and that's just the airport! Meet the multitalented monks who have taught their cats to jump. Ride a Wild West stagecoach past grand British mansions. Trade jokes about the rulers who move capitals on the whim of a fortune teller. Indeed, this is Burma. (Lonelyplanet)

Simon leaves India by river boat to Bangladesh, the independent Muslim eastern half of Bengal, over the Patna all the way to capital Dhaka. On the way he witnesses traditional fishing with 'tame' otters and the extreme erosion of muddy banks without rocks due to greenhouse warming. Then in the capital Dhaka he meets some of the millions of child workers. Back to India, where the tribal jungle lands of Tripura are fading fast due to 'development'. In Burma (Myanmar), a Chin refugee shows how hard and risky life is for members of that minority or anyone not part of the military junta regime.
Armies from different nations and walks of life come together in a truly epic struggle to open a supply route that would aid the Chinese and American forces in an effort to resist the Japanese from overrunning the entire Asian theater. The Stilwell Road was produced by the American Office of War Information and the British and Indian film units in 1945 detailing the creation of the Ledo Road, also known as the Stilwell Road after the U.S. General Joseph 'Vinegar Joe' Stilwell. The film concentrates mostly on the importance of the Burma Campaign and the Burma Road in supplying Chinese and American forces in resisting the Japanese from occupying the entire Pacific theater. This film is narrated by Ronald Reagan.

The Mogok Valley in Upper Myanmar (Burma) was for centuries the world's main source for rubies. That region has produced some of the finest rubies ever mined, but in recent years very few good rubies have been found there. The very best color in Myanmar rubies is sometimes described as "pigeon's blood." In central Myanmar, the area of Mong Hsu began producing rubies during the 1990s and rapidly became the world's main ruby mining area. The most recently found ruby deposit in Myanmar is in Namya (Namyazeik) located in the northern state of Kachin. Ruby Country - as the Burmese call their country, which is famous for the jewels as red as blood. In the old days the rubies were in maharajas ownership. They were sold to the Europeans. Today, trade with the red rubies is fully at the hands of t...
The Obama administration initially continued longstanding American reticence in dealing with Burma after taking over in January 2009, preferring to prioritize broader security threats like Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, and Pakistan. Susan E. Rice, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, called the junta government's hold over Myanmar, known in the West as Burma, "one of the most intractable challenges for the global community". Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton claimed that the Obama administration was "looking at what steps we might take that might influence the current Burmese government and...looking for ways that we could more effectively help the Burmese people", though she echoed Rice's pessimism in noting the junta's historical isolationism and disregard for ec...
Made in 1945, BURMA VICTORY is a British documentary about the Burma Campaign during World War Two. It was directed by Roy Boulting. The introduction to the film outlines the geography and climate of Burma, and the extent of the Japanese conquests. The film then describes the establishment of the South East Asian Command (SEAC) under Mountbatten, "a born innovator and firm believer in the unorthodox", and gives a comparatively detailed account of subsequent military events, including the Battle of Imphal-Kohima and Slim's drive on Mandalay, Arakan landings, the northern offensive of the Americans and Chinese under Stilwell, and the roles played by Chindits and Merrill's Marauders. The film ends with the capture of Rangoon and the Japanese surrender. The film focuses on the difficulties of ...

Chorus: Leeroy 2x]
Ils veulent direct la caillasse gagner le fric avant

Hiphop started in the Bronx, or was in Africa?
I don't really know when, what a tragic ambassador
I'd make for the culture or was it a movement
Or was it an industry full of consumers?
Full of politics is there any improvement?
Is this my heritage or am I intruding?
Treading hollow ground or am I telling the truth when
I say what I say man I do what I'm doing
What's really the truth? OK: from my point of view then
Looptroop is the hottest except for Saïan Supa Crew and
We don't deal with the media's old you're out and
you're in
Too much brown nosing breath smelling like urine
Stop believing their hype man they all got you fooled
To me Dipshit ain't droppin no juelz and
Who else, 50? He ain't really been cool since
The mixtapes and I don't want back the old school since
The old heroes soundin like some bitter old fools and
This one is exclusive for all of the true fans
Sing along with us while you push up your two hands
Tell'em make way for the new revolution!
[Chorus 2x]
[Promoe]
And you can call it Eurotrash, some backpack and pseudo
Like we don't know where the Euro's at, but we still
whoppin' your ol' ass
[Leeroy]
[Promoe]
And I ain't looking for no rapbeefs
I'm the first for admit I ain't build for that shit
And those beefs ain't nothing but Promotion campaigns
Part of the circus I'm going against
I just felt the need to be calling out names
And expose the keyplayers and what they're calling the
game
They're all caught in the think
- Ey yo Leeroy! Sing the chorus again he goes:
[Chorus 2x]
[Promoe]
And you can call it Eurotrash, some backpack and sued
ol' rap,
like we don't know where the euro's at, but we still
whoppin' your all ass
And you can call it Eurotrash, whatever man you won't
last
bending over for that good old cash, hiphop's run by
