This video was taken while I was going from the German Department to the English Department, on the 1st floor of the University of Seville's main building. Up until the 1950s, it was actually a tobacco factory, importing tobacco from Virginia (USA), and the only independent institution in Europe. While filming, I was trying to point out the combination of classical and modern elements of it. Enjoy :)

Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis, and was known as Ishbiliya after the Muslim conquest in 712. During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohads until finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248. Travel video about destination Real Alcazar de Sevilla in Spain. The royal palace of Real Alcazar is located in Seville, the capital of the autonomous Spanish province of Andalusia. Dating back to the 8th century and formerly the oldest citadel built by the Moors, the palace was built on the ruins of a Roman fortress when the Almohaden transformed it into a palace. In the Hall of the Envoys, the wall tiles contain many Moorish designs, and it was here that the country's rulers received envoys from abroad. The furnishings and household goods of the royal private rooms were collected from around most of the known world. The Gala Dining Room is...
