Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is one of the many themed lands featured at five Disney theme parks around the world owned or licensed by The Walt Disney Company. Each version of the land is different and features numerous attractions that depict views of the future. Disneyland Park in Paris includes a similar area called Discoveryland, which shares some elements with other Tomorrowlands but emphasizes visions of the future inspired by Jules Verne.

Walt Disney was known for his futurist views and, through his television programs, showed the American public how the world was moving into the future. Tomorrowland was the realized culmination of his views. In his own words: "Tomorrow can be a wonderful age. Our scientists today are opening the doors of the Space Age to achievements that will benefit our children and generations to come. The Tomorrowland attractions have been designed to give you an opportunity to participate in adventures that are a living blueprint of our future."

It is this movement into the future that has, on occasion, left Tomorrowland mired in the past. Disneyland's Tomorrowland is now in its third generation, and the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland is in its second. The Walt Disney Company has mentioned that it wanted to keep Tomorrowland from becoming "Yesterdayland". As a self-referential joke along this line, the 2007 Disney animated film Meet the Robinsons (which is set mainly in the year 2037) features an amusement park called Todayland, which has rides that look remarkably like Space Mountain and Disneyland's original Rocket Jets.

Tomorrowland (festival)

Tomorrowland is one of the biggest electronic music festivals held in the world, taking place in Belgium. It used to be organized as a joint venture by the original founders together with ID&T. The festival takes place in the town of Boom, 16 kilometers south of Antwerp, 32 kilometers north of Brussels, and has been organized since 2005. Tomorrowland has since become one of the most notable global music festivals.

History

The first edition of the festival took place on August 14, 2005. ID&T Belgium organized the festival. Performers included Push (M.I.K.E.), Armin van Buuren, Cor Fijneman, Yves Deruyter, Technoboy, Eddie Halliwell, Jon O'Bir, Yoji Biomehanika and Coone.

The second festival, on July 30, 2006, hosted Armin van Buuren, Axwell, Marco Bailey, Fred Baker, David Guetta, Ruthless and DJ Zany. The DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold was also announced on the poster, but canceled at the last moment, as he was on tour with Madonna at the time. Emjay, the producer of 'Stimulate', the anthem of 2006, performed on the main stage with The Atari Babies. The third year, the festival lasted two days for the first time in its history, taking place on July 28 and 29, 2007.

Tomorrowland (Ryan Bingham album)

Tomorrowland is the fourth studio album by Americana singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham, released on September 18, 2012. The album was recorded in Malibu, California with producer Justin Stanley and was self-released through Bingham's new independent record label Axster Bingham Records.

Release

The album's release on Bingham's own label comes following his departure from Lost Highway Records for his first three albums. His deal with Lost Highway started as an artist development contract that came to an end with Junky Star and Bingham decided to use social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to promote his newly recorded materials, like Tomorrowland directly to fans online and at his live shows. In an interview with American Songwriter, Bingham also revealed the label he formed with his wife Anna Axster is designed to allow them to focus more on the creative side of music, rather than the "corporate record world."

Promotion

Roughly two weeks prior to the album's release, tracks from the album were previewed online by magazines Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, and Glamour. Entertainment Weekly featured the song "Beg for Broken Legs" on its Music Mix blog starting September 5, 2012. For twenty-four hours starting on September 6, 2012, Rolling Stone featured "Guess Who's Knocking". On September 7, 2012, Glamour previewed "Flower Bomb" and included a brief "get-to-know" Bingham question-and-answer section for its readers in its Obsessed blog.
