Tegucigalpa (Spanish pronunciation: [teɣusiˈɣalpa], formally Tegucigalpa, Municipality of the Central District Spanish: Tegucigalpa, Municipio del Distrito Central or Tegucigalpa, M.D.C.), commonly referred to as Tegus, is the capital of Honduras and seat of government of the Republic, along with its twin sister Comayagüela.
Claimed on September 29, 1578 by the Spaniards, Tegucigalpa became the country's capital on October 30, 1880 under President Marco Aurelio Soto. The current Constitution of Honduras, enacted in 1982, names the sister cities of Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela as a Central District to serve as the permanent national capital, under articles 8 and 295.
After a failed attempt to create a Central American republic in 1821, Honduras became an individual sovereign nation. On January 30, 1937, Article 179 of the 1936 Honduran Constitution was changed under Decree 53 to establish Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela as a Central District.
Tegucigalpa is located in the southern-central highland region known as the department of Francisco Morazán of which it is also the departmental capital. It is situated in a valley, surrounded by mountains. Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela, being sister cities, are physically separated by the Choluteca River. The Central District is the largest of the 28 municipalities in the Francisco Morazán department.

Honduras (i/hɒnˈdʊərəs/; Spanish: [onˈduɾas]), officially the Republic of Honduras (Spanish: República de Honduras), is a republic in Central America. It was at times referred to as Spanish Honduras to differentiate it from British Honduras, which became the modern-day state of Belize. Honduras is bordered to the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by El Salvador, to the southeast by Nicaragua, to the south by the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Fonseca, and to the north by the Gulf of Honduras, a large inlet of the Caribbean Sea.
Honduras was home to several important Mesoamerican cultures, most notably the Maya, prior to being conquered by Spain in the sixteenth century. The Spanish introduced Roman Catholicism and the now predominant Spanish language, along with numerous customs that have blended with the indigenous culture. Honduras became independent in 1821 and has since been a republic, although it has consistently endured much social strife and political instability, remaining one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Honduras has the highest murder rate in the world.

Tegucigalpa Travel Video - Ringed by forested hills in a highland valley, sprawling Tegucigalpa enjoys a relatively fresh, mild climate and a spectacular setting. Few travelers hang around long enough to savor the capitals delights and sights, but if youre passing through you will find the compact city center boasts some fine colonial architecture and a good museum or two. Keep your ear to the ground and youll discover a dynamic young urban scene led by emerging artists and musicians, DJs and designers. There are only a few key venues, so its relatively easy to connect with this vibrant underground scene in the citys happening cafes and bars. Incredible Tegucigalpa Travel Video

Main Channel http://youtube.com/stealingbeauty Blog http://stealing-beauty.com Some pictures of Roatan http://www.stealing-beauty.com/2010/08/roatan-honduras/ These are some clips of fun moments with my family in Honduras. Honduras is a beautiful country, but it's impoverished and has a very corrupt government. I would be very wary of visiting the city or main land of Honduras, as it is very dangerous. I only go to visit my family. However, I would highly recommend Roatan as a vacation destination to any one, because it's safe. We stayed at Henry Morgan in West Bay, Roatan. I'm really proud that such a paradise can be found in Honduras. This place is a Caribbean dream! It's honestly one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.

La Ceiba Travel - La Ceiba is known as Honduras' party town: Tegucigalpa thinks, San Pedro Sula works and La Ceiba has fun, so the saying goes. Certainly this port city's buzzing nightlife makes it a mecca for fiesta-hungry Hondurans. All the action is over the estuary in Barrio La Isla, the city's zona viva. There's very little of interest in Ceiba itself: local beaches are polluted and unsafe and downtown has a crumbling, neglected air. For most travelers Ceiba is nothing more than a jumping-off point for the Bay Islands or the world-class whitewater on the Río Cangrejal. Expect searing heat and punishing humidity -- this is a totally tropical town. Security is a pressing issue: you should be alert and take taxis at night to get around. Wonderful La Ceiba Travel!
