La historia de Honduras, país ubicado en el centro de América Central, se remonta a unos 14 000 años (conforme al consenso de Clovis), en que se estima ocurrieron los primeros asentamientos de pobladores sedentarios. Resalta en la historia geológica de Honduras el hecho de poseer el único reporte de fósiles de dinosaurios de América Central. Antes de la conquista por los españoles en el siglo XVI, lo que ahora es Honduras fue habitado por pueblos de culturas que interactuaron entre ellos en diverso grado, en el tiempo y el territorio. De aquella época sobresalen la cultura olmeca, la tolteca y la maya.
El 15 de septiembre de 1821 se firma el Acta de Independencia de Centro América respecto a México que se proclama en 1823, es en 1838 cuando Honduras se independiza de Centroamérica y se inicia el proceso de integración definitivo que da lugar a la Honduras contemporánea.1

Tegucigalpa
Tegucigalpa (Spanish pronunciation: [teɣusiˈɣalpa], formally Tegucigalpa, Municipality of the Central District Spanish: Tegucigalpa, Municipio del Distrito Central or Tegucigalpa, M.D.C.), commonly referred to as Tegus, is the capital of Honduras and seat of government of the Republic, along with its twin sister Comayagüela.
Claimed on September 29, 1578 by the Spaniards, Tegucigalpa became the country's capital on October 30, 1880 under President Marco Aurelio Soto. The current Constitution of Honduras, enacted in 1982, names the sister cities of Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela as a Central District to serve as the permanent national capital, under articles 8 and 295.
After a failed attempt to create a Central American republic in 1821, Honduras became an individual sovereign nation. On January 30, 1937, Article 179 of the 1936 Honduran Constitution was changed under Decree 53 to establish Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela as a Central District.
Tegucigalpa is located in the southern-central highland region known as the department of Francisco Morazán of which it is also the departmental capital. It is situated in a valley, surrounded by mountains. Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela, being sister cities, are physically separated by the Choluteca River. The Central District is the largest of the 28 municipalities in the Francisco Morazán department.

Honduras is a beautiful country, but it's impoverished and has a very corrupt government. I would be very wary of visiting the city or main land of Honduras, as it is very dangerous. I only go to visit my family. However, I would highly recommend Roatan as a vacation destination to any one, because it's safe. We stayed at Henry Morgan in West Bay, Roatan. I'm really proud that such a paradise can be found in Honduras. This place is a Caribbean dream! It's honestly one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.
