Prime minister

A prime minister is the most senior minister of cabinet in the executive branch of government, often in a parliamentary or semi-presidential system. In many systems, the prime minister selects and may dismiss other members of the cabinet, and allocates posts to members within the government. In most systems, the prime minister is the presiding member and chairman of the cabinet. In a minority of systems, notably in semi-presidential systems of government, a prime minister is the official who is appointed to manage the civil service and execute the directives of the head of state.

In parliamentary systems fashioned after the Westminster system, the prime minister is the presiding and actual head of government and head of the executive branch. In such systems, the head of state or the head of state's official representative (i.e. the monarch, president, or governor-general) usually holds a largely ceremonial position, although often with reserve powers.

The prime minister is often, but not always, a member of parliament and is expected with other ministers to ensure the passage of bills through the legislature. In some monarchies the monarch may also exercise executive powers (known as the royal prerogative) that are constitutionally vested in the crown and may be exercised without the approval of parliament.

India

India, officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Myanmar (Burma) and Bangladesh to the east. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.

Punjab (region)

The Punjab (ⁱ/ˈpʌndʒɑːb/ or /ˈpʌndʒæb/), also spelled Panjab, panj-āb, "five rivers" (Punjabi: پنجاب (Shahmukhi), ਪੰਜਾਬ (Gurumukhi), Hindi: पंजाब (Devanagari)), is a geographical region in one of the northernmost parts of the Indian subcontinent or South Asia, comprising areas of eastern Pakistan and northern India.

It has been inhabited by Indus Valley Civilisation, Indo-Aryan peoples and has seen numerous invasions by the Achaemenid Empire, Greeks, Kushan Empire, Ghaznavids, Timurids, Mughals, Afghans, British and others. The people of the Punjab today are called Punjabis and their principal language is called Punjabi. The main religions of the Punjab region are Islam, Hinduism, and Sikhism. Other religious groups are Christianity, Jainism and Buddhism.

In 1947, with the dissolution of British India, the region was partitioned between India and Pakistan.
In Pakistan, it includes the Punjab province, Islamabad, parts of Azad Kashmir (namely Bhimber and Mirpur) and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (namely Peshawar known in the Punjab region as Pishore).

Guru Tegh Bahadur

Guru Tegh Bahadur (Punjabi: ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਹਾਦਰ, Punjabi pronunciation: [ɡʊru teɣ bəhɑdʊɾ]; 1 April 1621 – 24 November 1675,), revered as the ninth Nanak, was the ninth of ten Gurus (Prophets) of the Sikh religion. Guru Tegh Bahadur carried forward the light of sanctity and divinity of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak; his spiritual revelations dealing with varied themes such as the nature of God, human attachments, body, mind, sorrow, dignity, service, death and deliverance, are registered in the form of 115 poetic hymns in the sacred text Guru Granth Sahib.

Although a Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Tegh Bahadur was approached by Hindu Pandits from Kashmir in 1675, to seek his intercession against the forced conversions of Hindus to Islam by the Mughal rulers of India. For resisting these forced conversions and for himself refusing to convert to Islam, Guru Teg Bahadur was publicly executed via beheading at the imperial capital Delhi on the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Along with Guru Teg Bahadur, three other Sikhs, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala, were also executed. Owing to this sacrifice, Guru Tegh Bahadur is revered as Hind-di-Chaadar (shield of Hind(India)). Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi mark the places of execution and cremation of the Guru's body.

Punjab and Haryana High Court

Punjab and Haryana High Court is a common High Court for both the states of Punjab and Haryana and Union territory of Chandigarh. It is situated at Chandigarh, the capital of the States of Punjab and Haryana. As of 21 March 2015, there is a sitting strength of 55 judges in the High Court, including 45 permanent and 10 additional judges. Another five permanent and three additional judges from this court have been transferred to different High Courts, one of whom (Hon'ble Mr. Justice Virender Singh) is serving as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Earlier it was known as Lahore High Court, which was established on 21 March 1919. Jurisdiction of Lahore High Court covered undivided Punjab and Delhi having its seat at Lahore. After independence on 15 August 1947, a separate High Court of Punjab was created with its seat at Shimla under the Indian Independence Act 1947 which had jurisdiction over Punjab, Delhi and present Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. In 1966, after the reorganisation of the State of Punjab, the High Court was designated as the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, having its jurisdiction over Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh. The area of Delhi has been put under the Delhi High Court with its seat at New Delhi and Himachal Pradesh has its independent High Court at Shimla.

The Dowager Rani Champa of Bilaspur offered to give the Guru a piece of land in her state. The Guru bought the site on payment of Rs 500 (Five Hundred Rupees). The land consisted of the villages of Lodhipur, Mianpur and Sahota. Here on the mound of Makhowal, Guru Tegh Bahadur raised a new habitation. The ground was broken on June 19, 1665, by Baba Gurditta Randhawa. The new village was named after the Guru's mother, Nanaki. Chakk Nanaki later became famous as Anandpur Sahib. In 1932 state was made part of the newly created Punjab States Agency, and in 1936 the Punjab Hill States Agency was separated from the Punjab States Agency. India became independent in 1947, and on October 12, 1948 the ruler, HH Raja Sir Anand Chand, acceded to the Government of India. Pandit Sant Ram was the last Home Minister of the state. As Bilaspur acceded to India on 12 October 1948, Pandit Sant Ram administered the state's accession ensuring that Bilaspur retained an independent identity as a separate province and in 1950 as a part C state while the territory of the princely state was politically integrated into the Indian Union. Bilaspur became a separate state of India under a chief commissioner, and on July 1, 1954 Bilaspur State was made a district of Himachal Pradesh state by an act of the Indian Parliament. The historic town was submerged in 1954 when the Sutlej River was dammed to create the Govind Sagar, and a new town was built upslope of the old. Most of the Rajputs in Bilaspur are chandias, that is they belong to different branches of the ruling family. These families are numerous, and all enjoyed jagir pensions from state amounting in aggregate to Rs. 40,000 a year in 1933. They are called 'the Mian families', and the chief names are: Ajmerchandia, Kaliyanchandia, Tarahandia and Sultanchandia Bilaspur is located at 31.33°N 76.75°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 673 metres (2208 feet).It lies at foot of Bandla Hills. It lies near the reservoir of Govind Sagar on the Sutluj River. It is first major town after entering himachal on way to manali. It is hot in summer as it is situated in valley at lower altitude while surrounding mountains top experience pleasant weather and cold in winters. Monsoon brings plenty of rain from July to September. Best time to visit is October to November, during this time Lake is completely full and weather is also pleasant. Hottest months are May and June when temperature usually hover around 37-38 degree Celsius and sometimes for few days jumping to above 40 degree Celsius, although unlike North Indian Plains nights are comparatively cooler and comfortable.

Terrorist sleeper cells have started a recce of north Indian cities to replicate Pathankot and Gurdaspur-style fidayeen attacks for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Ajit Kumar Doval, IPS, PM, PPM, KC is a former Indian intelligence and law enforcement officer, who, since 30 May 2014, is the 5th and current National Security Adviser to Prime Minister of IndiaDoval was born in 1945 in the village of Ghiri Banelsyun in Pauri Garhwal in the erstwhile United Provinces, now in Uttarakhand. Doval's father had served in the Indian Army. He received his early education at the Ajmer Military School (formerly King George's Royal Indian Military School) in Ajmer, Rajasthan. He graduated with a master's degree in Economics from the University of Agra in 1967, obtaining the first position. Police career Doval joined the IPS in 1968 in the Kerala cadre. He was actively involved in anti-insurgency operations in Mizoram and Punjab. Doval was one of three negotiators who negotiated the release of passengers from IC-814 in Kandahar in 1999. Uniquely, Doval has the experience of being involved in the termination of all 15 hijackings of Indian Airlines aircraft from 1971–1999.In the Headquarters, he headed IB's operations wing for over a decade and was founder Chairman of the Multi Agency Centre (MAC), as well as of the Joint Task Force on Intelligence (JTFI). Intelligence career During the Mizo National Front (MNF) insurgency, Doval won over six of Laldenga's seven commanders. He spent long periods of time incognito with the Mizo National Army in the Arakan in Burma and inside Chinese territory. From Mizoram, Doval went to Sikkim where he played a role during the merger of the state with India In Punjab he was behind the rescue of Romanian diplomat Liviu Radu He was inside the Golden Temple in Amritsar in 1988 before Operation Black Thunder to collect critical information Doval spent six years in Indian High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan. He went to Kashmir in 1990 and persuaded militants (like Kuka Parray) to become counter-insurgents targeting hardline anti-India terrorists. This set the way for state elections in Jammu and Kashmir in 1996. Later, he was posted in the Indian High Commission in London, UK as a Minister. After retirement (2005–2014) Doval retired in January 2005 as Director, Intelligence Bureau. In December 2009, he was the founder Director of the Vivekananda International Foundation, a think tank set up by the Vivekananda Kendra, a Spiritually Oriented Organisation. Doval has remained actively involved in the discourse on national security in India. Besides writing editorial pieces for several leading newspapers and journals, he has delivered lectures on India's security challenges and foreign policy objectives at several renowned government and non-governmental institutions, security think-tanks in India and abroad. In recent years, he has delivered guest lectures on strategic issues at IISS, London, Capitol Hill, Washington DC, Australia-India Institute, University of Melbourne, National Defence College, New Delhi and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. Doval has also spoken internationally at global events, citing the ever increasing need of cooperation between the major established and emerging powers of the world. As National Security Adviser (2014–present) On 30 May 2014, Doval was appointed as India's fifth National Security Adviser. In June 2014, Doval played a crucial role in ensuring secure return of 46 Indian nurses who were trapped in a hospital in Tikrit, Iraq. After the family members lost all contacts from these nurses, following the capture of Mosul by ISIS. Doval, on a top secret mission flew to Iraq on 25 June 2014 to understand the position on the ground and make high-level contacts in the Iraqi government. Although, the exact circumstances of their release are unclear, on 5 July 2014, ISIS militants handed the nurses to authorities at Erbil city and two specially arranged planes by Indian Government brought them back home to Kochi. Along with Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Doval planned a military operation against Indian militants operating out of Myanmar. The mission was said to be a success with 50 militant casualties.

Kallar Kahar 18 August, 2017:- The Badge Award Ceremony of 4th Special Advanced Training Course of Uqaab Force was held at PAF Base Kallar Kahar today. Air Marshal Asad Lodhi, Vice Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was the chief guest at the occasion. A total of 262 PAF personnel including 11 officers and 251 airmen successfully completed their rigorous training conducted by the Special Services Wing of Pakistan Air Force. The Chief Guest awarded badges and trophies to the successful personnel who underwent a strenuous and demanding course. Junior Technician Sikandar Hayat was awarded the Best Firer trophy while Flying Officer Aamir Farooq clinched the trophy for Overall Best Performance in the course. While addressing at the occasion, the chief guest expressed his satisfaction on the level of training offered to the participants and appreciated their level of motivation and high morale. He further said that the successful culmination of this course would help prepare to fight tooth and nail against the enemies of our country. He added that PAF security personnel will always be in the forefront to face any untoward situation. The participants of the course presented live demonstration in armed combat situations and also displayed their sniper shooting skills. Another important event of the ceremony was rappelling in which the participants presented a thrilling display of shooting the targets while coming down from the hill. The Uqaab Force also demonstrated a mock attack on a terrorist hideout.

The land consisted of the villages of Lodhipur, Mianpur and Sahota. Here on the mound of Makhowal, Guru Tegh Bahadur raised a new habitation. The ground was broken on June 19, 1665, by Baba Gurditta Randhawa. The new village was named after the Guru's mother, Nanaki. Chakk Nanaki later became famous as Anandpur Sahib. In 1932 state was made part of the newly created Punjab States Agency, and in 1936 the Punjab Hill States Agency was separated from the Punjab States Agency. India became independent in 1947, and on October 12, 1948 the ruler, HH Raja Sir Anand Chand, acceded to the Government of India. Pandit Sant Ram was the last Home Minister of the state. As Bilaspur acceded to India on 12 October 1948, Pandit Sant Ram administered the state's accession ensuring that Bilaspur retained an independent identity as a separate province and in 1950 as a part C state while the territory of the princely state was politically integrated into the Indian Union. Bilaspur became a separate state of India under a chief commissioner, and on July 1, 1954 Bilaspur State was made a district of Himachal Pradesh state by an act of the Indian Parliament. The historic town was submerged in 1954 when the Sutlej River was dammed to create the Govind Sagar, and a new town was built upslope of the old. Most of the Rajputs in Bilaspur are chandias, that is they belong to different branches of the ruling family. These families are numerous, and all enjoyed jagir pensions from state amounting in aggregate to Rs. 40,000 a year in 1933. They are called 'the Mian families', and the chief names are: Ajmerchandia, Kaliyanchandia, Tarahandia and Sultanchandia Bilaspur is located at 31.33°N 76.75°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 673 metres (2208 feet).It lies at foot of Bandla Hills. It lies near the reservoir of Govind Sagar on the Sutluj River. It is first major town after entering himachal on way to manali. It is hot in summer as it is situated in valley at lower altitude while surrounding mountains top experience pleasant weather and cold in winters. Monsoon brings plenty of rain from July to September. Best time to visit is October to November, during this time Lake is completely full and weather is also pleasant. Hottest months are May and June when temperature usually hover around 37-38 degree Celsius and sometimes for few days jumping to above 40 degree Celsius, although unlike North Indian Plains nights are comparatively cooler and comfortable.

The Dowager Rani Champa of Bilaspur offered to give the Guru a piece of land in her state. The Guru bought the site on payment of Rs 500 (Five Hundred Ruppees). The land consisted of the villages of Lodhipur, Mianpur and Sahota. Here on the mound of Makhowal, Guru Tegh Bahadur raised a new habitation. The ground was broken on June 19, 1665, by Baba Gurditta Randhawa. The new village was named after the Guru's mother, Nanaki. Chakk Nanaki later became famous as Anandpur Sahib. In 1932 state was made part of the newly created Punjab States Agency, and in 1936 the Punjab Hill States Agency was separated from the Punjab States Agency. India became independent in 1947, and on October 12, 1948 the ruler, HH Raja Sir Anand Chand, acceded to the Government of India. Bilaspur became a separate state of India under a chief commissioner, and on July 1, 1954 Bilaspur state was made a district of Himachal Pradesh state by an act of the Indian Parliament. The historic town was submerged in 1954 when the Sutlej River was dammed to create the Govind Sagar, and a new town was built upslope of the old. Bilaspur was the capital of a state founded in the 7th century, and known as Kahlur after its earlier capital, or as Bilaspur after its later capital. The ruling dynasty were Chandela Rajputs, who claimed descent from the rulers of Chanderi in present-day Madhya Pradesh. The town of Bilaspur was founded in 1663.
