Beatrix Ruf new Director Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam
Over the last 15 years, Beatrix Ruf has become widely acknowledged as one of the most influential figures in the international art world. For several years, the American journal Art Review has named her as one of the top-ranking art professionals in its 'Power Top 100', ranking her 7th in 2013. Beatrix Ruf (Singen, Germany, 1960) was appointed Director of the Kunsthalle Zürich in 2001. She initiated an extensive reconstruction and expansion project in 2003, which took place in 2011 and 2012. At the Kunsthalle Zürich, Ruf developed a distinguished exhibition program of solo presentations and group presentations. She also gave many young artists their first museum presentation at the Kunsthalle Zürich.

Fragmenten uit het leven van een museumdirecteur
Filmmakers Jeroen van der Poel en Robbie Schweiger volgen Beatrix Ruf tijdens haar dagelijkse bezigheden in haar eerste jaar als directeur van het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. We zien haar tijdens het maken van tentoonstellingen, aan het werk op kantoor op het Museumplein en tijdens ontmoetingen met kunstenaars in hun ateliers of, zoals afgelopen week in Venetië, met Isa Genzken.
Aan Genzken wijdt het Stedelijk dit najaar een grote tentoonstelling.
De serie Rough Cuts biedt de komende maanden alvast een voorproefje. In november presenteren we het eindresultaat!

The 2020 Verbier Art Summit asked how to envision a way forward in finding harmony between art, ecology and resources. Organised in partnership with acclaimed museum director Jessica Morgan, Nathalie de Gunzburg Director of New York’s Dia Art Foundation.
The 2020 Verbier Art Summit took place on 31 January – 1 February 2020 in Verbier, Switzerland around the theme:
RESOURCE HUNGRY: OUR CULTURED LANDSCAPE AND ITS ECOLOGICAL IMPACT
The 2020 Summit speakers were invited by Jessica Morgan and included multi-disciplinary artists Joan Jonas and Stefan Kaegi; architects Adrian Lahoud and Philippe Rahm; curator Elvira Dyangani Ose; philosopher Djamila Ribeiro; art historian Dorothea von Hantelmann and El Último Grito (academic designer duo Professor Roberto Feo & Rosario Hurtado).

Excerpts from the life of a museum director
In her first year as the director of the Stedelijk Museum, Beatrix Ruf will be followed by film makers Jeroen van der Poel and Robbie Schweiger. They witness the making of exhibitions, join her while working at the office at the Museumplein and during her meetings with artists such as Isa Genzken in Venice. The Stedelijk will dedicate a major exhibition to Isa Genzken, opening this Fall.
The serie Rough Cuts will give you a preview of the project in the coming months. In November we will present the full result!
