Shooting and discussing the Five-seveN, which is, by the way, the trademarked designation for the pistol.
I don't know if you can see it in the video, but the rear sight has been moved all the way to the right by a previous owner of the gun. I did not like the looks of this and was going to center the sight and decide for myself if it had a problem, but I did not have a hex wrench small enough, and we just had the gun for a couple of days. It seemed okay in the few shots I took.
After two days of shooting over 500 rounds and also struggling in this first video with long-range shooting, I discovered that somebody must have just been jerking the trigger and moved the sights, thinking the sights were off. Some of my missing is elevation-related, but I notice that most of my windage problems are misses to the right. I notice that even my hits are mostly on the right side of the targets.
Before we did a Chapter 2 video, I bought a set of hex wrenches small enough and put the rear sight back where it belongs. You'll see in Chapter 2 that I had a little better long-range outcome. :-) It's not that the gun is inaccurate; it's just that I was trying to get used to the gun in this first video, plus the sights were off. Please don't move your rear sight until you let an experienced shooter or two shoot your gun. :-)

I was hoping to catch the tracer in the gel, but it didn't turn out as planned :)
Couple things learned from the video. 5.7 ammunition that tumbles is unpredictable. You almost need a 12x12" block shot dead center to ensure that the round will not exit the block.
L191, like it's brother SS190, murders soft body armor.
L191 is not cheap mainly because us peasants have to buy it second/third/fourth hand at markup. :O

I break out a Kel-Tec PMR 30 and a FNH FiveseveN to see how similar, or dissimilar, they are in terms of ballistic performance. I shoot them both into threat level IIA body armor and bare 10% Clear Ballistics gel. I think you might be surprised.

The FN Five-seveN pistol is chambered for the same 5.7x28mm cartridge as the famous P90 PDW, but the short barrel of the pistol results in less velocity. Still, the Five-seveN is perhaps the perfect sidearm for a man using the P90 as a primary. It also makes for a great range gun as the low recoil and nearly absent muzzle flip result is a very pleasant shooting experience. In this installment of TFBTV we do a quick overview of this little gun from FN. The pistol featured has an aftermarket barrel installed.

Some fun with the FN 5.7X28 ( Five-seveN ).
By the way, I say that some of these rounds are 127 grain bullets. Duh, they are just 27-grain bullets. A 127 grain .22 caliber bullet would have to be about three inches long. :-)

FN 5.7×28mm
The FN 5.7×28mm is a small-caliber, high-velocity cartridge designed and manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. It is a bottlenecked centerfire cartridge that is somewhat similar to the .22 Hornet or .22 K-Hornet. The 5.7×28mm was developed in conjunction with the FN P90 personal defense weapon (PDW) and FN Five-seven pistol, in response to NATO requests for a replacement for the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge.
In 2002 and 2003, NATO conducted a series of tests with the intention of standardizing a PDW cartridge as a replacement for the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge. The tests compared the relative merits of the 5.7×28mm cartridge and the 4.6×30mm cartridge, which was created by Heckler & Koch as a competitor to the 5.7×28mm. The NATO group subsequently recommended the 5.7×28mm cartridge, citing superior performance in testing, but the German delegation objected and the standardization process was indefinitely halted.
By 2006, FN's 5.7×28mm firearms—the P90 personal defense weapon and Five-seven pistol—were in service with military and police forces in over 40 nations throughout the world. In the United States, 5.7×28mm firearms are currently used by numerous law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service.

5.7x28mm, L191 Tracer VS Level IIIA and Clear Gel!
I was hoping to catch the tracer in the gel, but it didn't turn out as planned :) Couple things learned from the video. 5.7 ammunition that tumbles is unpredictable. You almost need a 12x12" block shot dead center to ensure that the round will not exit the block. L191, like it's brother SS190, murders soft body armor. I break out a Kel-Tec PMR 30 and a FNH FiveseveN to see how similar, or dissimilar, they are in terms of ballistic performance. The FN Five-seveN Pistol (5.7x28mm)
The FN Five-seveN pistol is chambered for the same 5.7x28mm cartridge as the famous P90 PDW, but the short barrel of the pistol results in less velocity. Still, the Five-seveN is perhaps the perfect sidearm for a man using the P90 as a primary. It also makes for a great range gun as the low recoil and nearly absent muzzle flip result is a very pleasant shooting experience. Some fun with the FN 5.7X28 ( Five-seveN ). By the way, I say that some of these rounds are 127 grain bullets. Duh, they are just 27-grain bullets. Shooting and discussing the Five-seveN, which is, by the way, the trademarked designation for the pistol.
I don't know if you can see it in the video, but the rear sight has been moved all the way to the right by a previous owner of the gun. I did not like the looks of this and was going to center the sight and decide for myself if it had a problem, but I did not have a hex wrench small enough, and we just had the gun for a couple of days. It seemed okay in the few shots I took.
After two days of shooting over 500 rounds and also struggling in this first video with long-range shooting, I discovered that somebody must have just been jerking the trigger and moved the sights, thinking the sights were off. Some of my missing is elevation-related, but I notice that most of my windage problems are misses to the right. I notice that even my hits are mostly on the right side of the targets.
Before we did a Chapter 2 video, I bought a set of hex wrenches small enough and put the rear sight back where it belongs. You'll see in Chapter 2 that I had a little better long-range outcome. :-) It's not that the gun is inaccurate; it's just that I was trying to get used to the gun in this first video, plus the sights were off. Please don't move your rear sight until you let an experienced shooter or two shoot your gun. :-)
