Alestorm is a heavy metal band from Perth, Scotland. Their music is characterized by a pirate theme, and as a result they have been dubbed a "pirate metal" band by many critics and their fanbase.
The band formed under the name Battleheart in 2004. After releasing two demos, they were signed by Napalm Records in 2007 and renamed themselves Alestorm. Their debut album was released on 25 January 2008. The band's third album, Back Through Time, was released in June 2011, and their latest record Sunset on the Golden Age was released in August 2014.
When Battleheart was originally founded in 2004, they were briefly a six-piece with the line-up: Graham Motion (drums), Stuart Finnie (bass), Tom Mitchell (rhythm guitar), Gavin Harper (lead guitar), Christopher Bowes (keyboards), Robin Hellier (vocals). Battleheart recorded an independent demo in early 2006. Battleheart played their first live show only five days after the members had met for the first time.
Terror on the High Seas, their second demo, was recorded the same year. Later in the year, the song "Set Sail And Conquer" from the demo was featured on Metal Hammer's "Battle Metal V" CD with other such bands as Týr, Firewind, HammerFall and Blind Guardian.

Plot: While the entire world watches the largest meteor shower in 10,000 years, a rogue asteroid, hidden by the meteor field, smashes into the moon in a tremendous explosion of rock and debris. Fragments from the asteroid, and even from the moon itself, penetrate Earth's atmosphere and make impact. Even though the initial damage is minimal, nerves are frayed throughout the planet. There is significant physical damage to the lunar surface, but experts quickly conclude there will be no lasting ramifications. Then strange anomalies begin to manifest themselves on Earth. It starts small - cell phone disruptions, unusual static charges and odd tidal behavior. The world's leading scientists, including Alex Kittner, Maddie Rhodes and Roland Emerson, begin piecing together evidence that suggests the moon's properties, and its orbit, may have been permanently altered. Their fears are realized when the anomalies increase to the point where the effect of "simulated" gravity is being manipulated by increased electromagnetic surges coming from the moon. People, cars and other objects are rendered momentarily weightless in random, isolated areas around the globe. Alex, Maddie, Roland and the rest of their team soon discover something far worse - the moon's new orbit has put it on a collision course with Earth! The world now has 39 days to stop it or Earth, and all of mankind, will perish. After a failed attempt by the United States to destroy the moon, our heroes bring all the countries of the world together in one last hope for humanity - an international mission to the moon itself where astronauts will attempt to reverse the magnetic effects and restore the moon to its original orbit. Alex, whose children are now missing after the latest rampage of anti-gravity, is emotionally torn as he must now join Roland and two other astronauts on the Earth saving mission into space. It is a race against time as the two celestial bodies are drawn closer and closer to impact, the world united, watching and praying, the survival of mankind in the balance.

Plot: James Bond is a worldwide icon, but is Ian Fleming's creation based on a real character? This documentary profiles the wartime exploits of Dusko Popov, a double-agent who worked for Britain and the U.S. against Germany, and reveals how Fleming used his imagination to weave the adventures of Popov and others into "Casino Royale" and subsequent James Bond stories. Includes clips from Bond films and classified wartime footage, plus interviews with MI6 figures, Popov's son, Hilary Saltzman (daughter of James Bond producer Harry Saltzman), David Giammarco ( actor and author of the best-selling book "For Your Eyes Only: Behind the Scenes of the James Bond Films"), Andrew Lycett (Ian Fleming biographer), and other experts on the clandestine world of Ian Fleming and the James Bond films.

Plot: Having grown up within the Irish Republican Army (I.R.A.) since he was young, Bobby O'Brien feels that the modern day I.R.A. does not have any of its weapons strength and protection power anymore. Haunted by violent memories of his mother, a fellow I.R.A. radical, being gunned down during a skirmish in Belfast, Bobby is surprised when he realizes that many of his mates don't want to fight anymore, they just want to live normally. This infuriates Bobby as he sets out on a path and a goal to continue in the fashion of a continuity I.R.A. man. When his best mate, Mick, gets murdered by the son of a very powerful member of the Ulster Defense Association (U.D.A.), a loyalist paramilitary group, Bobby loses his cool and murders the young man in an act of revenge. Bobby now is not only on the run from the I.R.A. but the U.D.A. and the British Intelligence Agency as well whom want Bobby dead for a past insurrection incident in Belfast. The only person who can stop Bobby from his last assassination-attempt on a military intelligence agent is his lover from the past, Maggie, who then turns to Seamus, a retired I.R.A. fighter who must decide whether to help Bobby or stop him.

Ian Wilson: The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World for narrator, clarinet, piano, violin, and cello (2007). Text by Gabriel García Márquez. Performed live on December 9th, 2008 at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris by Elizabeth Cooney (violin), Carol McGonnell (clarinet), Richard Harwood (cello), Finghin Collins (piano), and Gavin Friday (narrator). ======================= The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World for narrator, clarinet, violin, cello and piano (2007) Gabriel García Márquez's eponymous short story originally appeared in Playboy magazine many decades ago, notwithstanding its subtitle as A Tale for Children. It has long been a favourite of mine, not least because it is a fine example of Márquez's gift for making the macabre seem magical. When I was asked by the Mu...

[Originally by Bob Dylan]
Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son ?
And where have you been my darling young one ?
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways
I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests
I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans
I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.
Oh, what did you see, my blue eyed son ?
And what did you see, my darling young one ?
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin'
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin'
I saw a white ladder all covered with water
I saw ten thousand takers whose tongues were all broken
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.
And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son ?
And what did you hear, my darling young one ?
I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin'
I heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world
I heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin'
I heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin'
I heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin'
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.
Oh, who did you meet my blue-eyed son ?
Who did you meet, my darling young one ?
I met a young child beside a dead pony
I met a white man who walked a black dog
I met a young woman whose body was burning
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow
I met one man who was wounded in love
I met another man who was wounded and hatred
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.
And what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son ?
And what'll you do now my darling young one ?
I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin'
I'll walk to the deepths of the deepest black forest
Where the people are a many and their hands are all empty
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters
Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison
Where the executioner's face is always well hidden
Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten
Where black is the color, where none is the number
And I'll tell and think it and speak it and breathe it
And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it
Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin'
But I'll know my songs well before I start singin'
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
