Article: November 22, 2012 Catalyst IT, New Zealand's largest open source IT company, is pleased to announce that as of 1 December, they will have completed their acquisition of Egressive, the Christchurch-based open source company.

Don Christie, Catalyst director, said “from both our companies' perspective, this move makes a lot of sense. Our shared values, commitment to quality open source software development and our people make this a natural fit for us.

“With nearly three decades in operation between us, Catalyst IT and Egressive together represent the most established open source expertise in New Zealand.”

Dave Lane, Egressive director, said “we are excited about the combined skills and experience that our two companies bring together. It's great for Egressive staff who can see many opportunities for growth within Catalyst and are inspired by their new community of talented colleagues.

“Egressive clients will have access to greater capacity, a much wider and deeper pool of technical skill, and experience in building and running large scale systems including some of New Zealand's biggest, busiest websites. For Catalyst, it means having an established open source company, firmly engaged in the local business scene, on which to build their South Island activities. “Joining together has benefits for our clients, our staff and the wider New Zealand open source community.”

Catalyst IT currently has 150 staff working in offices in Auckland, Christchurch, Brisbane, Sydney, Brighton in the United Kingdom and at head office established in Wellington over 15 years ago. Egressive was founded in Christchurch fourteen years ago, where they have six staff.
