Learn how to texture your drywall after it has been mudded and taped. This video demonstrates a Santa Fe texture.
Tools needed:
• Topping joint compound
• A 3" putty/drywall knife
• An 8 - 12" drywall knife
• A hawk (ghetto like mine or store bought)
• Plastic bags
• Sanding sponge or sanding supplies

Creating the tree bark texture wall ceiling finish pattern is easy and simple. Can be laced back, knockdown, flattened or smoothed a little to create a beautiful texture pattern on walls (no comb tools required)
A smooth hard plastic roller is used, no elastics needed, just a bucket of texture & a caulking tool (caulker) or a trowel to smooth afterwards

The use of hand held comb tools to create beautiful freestyle comb texture finishes for feature walls, and even ceilings. Texture like a professional drywall texture finisher, known in the UK as 'artexing'
Manual hand texturing using comb tools allows for more creativity
Used to texture the feature wall is a standard 10" texturing comb tool to create the fan & shell, (artex) pattern running in various ways & directions, both down the wall, and diagonal.
The solid, sound, dust free wall has been primed, sealed, (to diminish as much porosity as possible, so the applied texture does not dry too quick whilst attempting comb patterns) and left to dry completely, before attempting texturing onto the surface.
Texture mixture must be of the correct consistency for comb-work, and is laid on thick, with a 9" medium pile roller, in bands across the entire width of the wall.

The comb tool is drawn smoothly, and flows freely, like a stroke of an artist paint brush, through the applied texture, to create the desired comb effect or textured pattern, onto the wall. All comb tools should be used this way.

Tools needed:
• Topping joint compound
• A 3" putty/drywall knife
• An 8 - 12" drywall knife
• A hawk (ghetto like mine or store bought)
• Plastic bags
• Sanding sponge or sanding supplies

Manual hand texturing using comb tools allows for more creativity
Used to texture the feature wall is a standard 10" texturing comb tool to create the fan & shell, (artex) pattern running in various ways & directions, both down the wall, and diagonal.
The solid, sound, dust free wall has been primed, sealed, (to diminish as much porosity as possible, so the applied texture does not dry too quick whilst attempting comb patterns) and left to dry completely, before attempting texturing onto the surface.
Texture mixture must be of the correct consistency for comb-work, and is laid on thick, with a 9" medium pile roller, in bands across the entire width of the wall.
