The Daily Mail is a British daily conservative, middle-markettabloid newspaper owned by the Daily Mail and General Trust.
First published in 1896 by Lord Northcliffe, it is the United Kingdom's second biggest-selling daily newspaper after The Sun. Its sister paper The Mail on Sunday was launched in 1982. Scottish and Irish editions of the daily paper were launched in 1947 and 2006 respectively. The Daily Mail was Britain's first daily newspaper aimed at the newly-literate "lower-middle class market resulting from mass education, combining a low retail price with plenty of competitions, prizes and promotional gimmicks", and was the first British paper to sell a million copies a day.
It was at the outset a newspaper for women, the first to provide features especially for them, and as of the second-half of 2013 had a 54.77% female readership, the only British newspaper whose female readers constitute more than 50% of its demographic.
It had an average daily circulation of 1,708,006 copies in March 2014. Between July and December 2013 it had an average daily readership of approximately 3.951 million, of whom approximately 2.503 million were in the ABC1 demographic and 1.448 million in the C2DE demographic. Its website has more than 100 million unique visitors per month.

Radiohead - Live - Austin City Limits 2012
Filmed at the Royal Geographical Society on 25th February 2016. "Immigrant-bashing, woman-hating, Muslim-smearing, NHS-undermining, gay-baiting”. That’s how one critic has described the Daily Mail. It depicts a world where traditional British values are under siege – from the EU, rising crime, and benefit scroungers – and it assures its readers that they are not alone in their anxieties. It loves nothing more than a good health scare. According to the Mail, almost everything causes cancer (116 items at the last count, including salami, flipflops and chimney sweeping). As for women, they are castigated for trying to ‘have it all’, and any female celebrity who ‘dares to bare’ on the beach is subjected to microscopic scrutiny of her physique. Perhaps most worrying of all is the power the Mai...

Two editions of the astounding social experiment in which volunteers are stranded on a remote island without access to any form of media other than the Daily Mail. These clips were originally shown as part of Charlie Brooker's TV Go Home. Look out for early appearances by Catherine Tate and that bloke who does "Barry from Watford".

The moon is a rock on a mountain
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
Waiting on the rapture
Singing we're here to keep your prices down
we'll feed you to the hounds
To the Daily Mail, to get up, together
You made a pig's ear, you made a mistake
Paid off security and got through the gate
You got away with it but we lie in wait eeeh
ehhh eeeh
where's the truth what's the use
I'm hanging around lost and found
And when you're here innocent
Fat chance, no plan
no regard for human life
you'll keep time, you've no right
you're fast to lose, you will lose
you jumped the queue, you're back again
President for life, love of all
The flies in the sky, the beasts of the earth
