Today is Thursday, September 22, 2016, and today reporter Rob Snell shares the latest on an FBI investigation into an alleged conspiracy involving Detroit terror suspect Sebastian Gregerson. The FBI believes he was plotting violent jihad with a Maryland imam.

The conspiracy angle is revealed in more than 200 pages of sealed federal court records obtained by The News that offer new details about an FBI counterterrorism investigation spanning at least three states. Here are the details.

Time served for murder

  • A man suspected in a quadruple slaying of his family Wednesday spent 16 years in prison for killing his previous, then-pregnant wife and unborn child, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
  • Police found the bodies of Green’s 4-year-old and 5-year-old daughters, who were asphyxiated with carbon monoxide, in their family home. Green’s stepchildren, a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man, were found bound and shot in the home’s basement. Their 39-year-old mother — and his current wife — Faith Green was discovered severely injured.
  • Faith Green was slashed in the face and shot in the foot, police said. She was found in the basement alongside her older children and was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.

DMC won't tell

  • The Detroit Medical Center has received the results of a federal investigation into problems with unsterile instruments at its hospitals but won’t make them public until it’s required to do so.
  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services spokeswoman Elizabeth Schinderle confirmed the federal agency provided the DMC with a report on Sept. 15 detailing the findings of a two-day probe sparked by a Detroit News series documenting more than a decade of complaints about dirty, broken and incomplete surgical sets at the system’s Midtown campus.

Was it really a suicide?

  •  On the day he died at boot camp, Marine Corps recruit Raheel Siddiqui had a standoff with a drill instructor over a failure to comply with his orders. A new report has released the details into the Taylor recruit's death. At the same time, an investigation has been launched into revelations of systemic hazing and abuse of recruits within the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at the training depot in South Carolina.

  • Veteran WDIV (Channel 4) anchor Carmen Harlan plans to retire after a career spanning four decades, the station announced Thursday. She will anchor her final newscast on Nov. 11.
  • Funeral service arrangements have been released for Detroit TV royalty John Kelly, the former WXYZ (Channel 7) anchor who died Saturday at age 88. Kelly’s family will accept visitors from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home at 1139 N. Inkster in Garden City, according to the funeral home.
