Police allege Mr Thorburn killed Tiahleigh at the family home on October 29, in an attempt to cover up his son Trent's alleged sex crime against the girl.

The Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday that Trent, 19, charged with incest, attempting to pervert the course of justice and perjury, had allegedly told his cousin he'd had sex with the 12-year-old days before her death and feared she was pregnant.

Tiahleigh's body was found by fishermen on the banks of the Pimpama river in November 2015, just hours after a missing person's alert was issued.

Richard Thorburn's elder son Joshua, 20 and wife Julene, 54, were also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and perjury on Tuesday night but were released without facing court.

Trent Thorburn was denied bail on Wednesday.
