A spokesman for the company said everyone was shaken.

"We are just sorting everything out," he said.

"I feel terrible for the family, it was a complete accident.

"Have to take care of the family now and get them a bit of counselling."

A spokesman for Sunlover Reef Cruises said their priority was now the crew and team that were aboard the vessel when the crash happened.

"Our focus is on the crew and our team that witnessed the incident," he said.

"It's not been a good start for the day."

Investigations were continuing.
