An Animation Research Ltd animation, originally in stereoscopic 3D, which screened daily in the 'Waka Maori' pavilion (Auckland, New Zealand) during the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Starting with a version of the Maori Creation myth we then see the Sky Father and Earth Mother separated, before joining Maui and his brothers on a fishing trip which culminates in the catch of the North Island of New Zealand. Aoraki and his brothers also go on a sea voyage, and this results in the formation of the South Island. The final voyage is to Auckland, and the Waka Maori pavilion itself.

The island of Maui (/ˈmaʊ.iː/; Hawaiian: [ˈmɐwwi]) is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands at 727.2 square miles (1,883 km2) and is the 17th largest island in the United States. Maui is part of the State of Hawaii and is the largest of Maui County's four islands, bigger than Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, and unpopulated Kahoʻolawe. In 2010, Maui had a population of 144,444, third-highest of the Hawaiian Islands, behind that of Oʻahu and Hawaiʻi Island. Kahului is the largest census-designated place (CDP) on the island with a population of 26,337 as of 2010 and is the commercial and financial hub of the island.Wailuku is the seat of Maui County and is the third-largest CDP as of 2010. Other significant places include Kīhei (including Wailea and Makena in the Kihei Town CDP, which is the second-most-populated CDP in Maui); Lahaina (including Kāʻanapali and Kapalua in the Lahaina Town CDP); Makawao; Pāʻia; Kula; Haʻikū; and Hāna.
Name
Native Hawaiian tradition gives the origin of the island's name in the legend of Hawaiʻiloa, the navigator credited with discovery of the Hawaiian Islands. According to that legend, Hawaiʻiloa named the island of Maui after his son, who in turn was named for the demigod Māui. The earlier name of Maui was ʻIhikapalaumaewa. The Island of Maui is also called the "Valley Isle" for the large isthmus between its northwestern and southeastern volcanoes and the numerous large valleys carved into both mountains.

Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972), also known by his ring name The Rock, is an American and Canadian actor, producer and semi-retired professional wrestler, signed with WWE. Johnson was a college football player for the University of Miami, winning a national championship on the 1991 Miami Hurricanes football team. He later played for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League, and was cut two months into the 1995 season. This led him to become a professional wrestler like his grandfather, Peter Maivia, and his father, Rocky Johnson (from whom he also inherited his Canadian citizenship). Through Maivia he is considered a non-blood relative of the Anoa'i wrestling family.
Originally billed as "Rocky Maivia", he gained mainstream fame in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF/E) from 1996 to 2004 as a major figure in the company's Attitude Era, and was the first third-generation wrestler in the company's history. He returned to wrestling part-time for WWE from 2011 to 2013 and continues to make sporadic non-wrestling appearances for the company. The Rock has had seventeen championship reigns in WWE, including ten as a world champion, winning the WWF/E Championship eight times and the WCW/World Championship twice. WWE.com described him as a 10-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He won the Intercontinental Championship twice and the WWF Tag Team Championship five times. He is the sixth Triple Crown Champion in WWE history, and won the 2000 Royal Rumble. The Rock was instrumental in helping the organization win the ratings war against the World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

Tales from the mythologies of Creation, Maui and Aoraki
An Animation Research Ltd animation, originally in stereoscopic 3D, which screened daily in the 'Waka Maori' pavilion (Auckland, New Zealand) during the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Starting with a version of the Maori Creation myth we then see the Sky Father and Earth Mother separated, before joining Maui and his brothers on a fishing trip which culminates in the catch of the North Island of New Zealand. Aoraki and his brothers also go on a sea voyage, and this results in the formation of the South Island. The final voyage is to Auckland, and the Waka Maori pavilion itself. The voiceover is by the awesome George Henare, from a script by John Broughton. Client: Te Mangai Paho

In this travel video guide to Maui, Hawaii, I travel to Maui and start off by heading to Haleakalā National Park to watch the sunrise from the highest volcano in Maui. In part two of my travel video tour series from Maui, Hawaii, I travel to Paia, the small, laid-back beach town on the northern coast of Maui, to track down the famed breakfast dish called the Loco Moco (rice, brown gravy and a hamburger patty topped with a fried egg). Next I head north on the Hana Highway and take a hike into the lush forest to take a dip at Twin Falls, a small water hole in the middle of the forest fed by two island waterfalls. If this isn't classic Hawaii, then I don't know what is. Finally, I pick up my friends at the airport and jump onto a helicopter(!) to take an aerial tour of Maui and nearby Moloka'i. From this vantage point we visit dramatic sea cliffs up close and explore the interior portions of the islands -- places that few people ever see. To learn more...

Maui Trip Travel Guide
This was a brief preview on our school trip to maui in May 2015! We ventured on the road to Hana, to various waterfalls, to the islet Molokini, and of course to the wonderful Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! This trip was absolutely amazing, and im so happy i got to spend it with my friends!

Next I throw on a wet suit and hit the waves to learn how to surf -- my first time ever. Though I've ridden the New York City subway after happy hour before, I was still a little unsure about how my balance would be on a surfboard. Finally, I wrap up the day by heading to the beach with a ukulele to have a jam session with a local Maui resident and ukulele player, where we jam out to some Bob Marley as the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, framed by the nearby islands of Moloka'i and Lana'i.

As I floated thousands of feet above ground, I was given a unique viewpoint of the island, and even lived to tell about it (and make this video).
Next I head out onto the open water on a sailing outrigger canoe (a canoe with a lateral support on its side in traditional Polynesian fashion), and take to the water to go snorkeling, which included a couple sea turtle sightings.
I then finish up the day with fish tacos at Coconut's (which, to this day, are probably some of the best fish tacos I've ever had), and shave ice for dessert, the classic Hawaii dessert consisting of shaved ice inundated with flavored syrups.
I decide to get a little high culture in and head to Ulupalakua Winery and Ranch, where I sample some pineapple wine (what else?), then head across the street to the Western-themed country store for elk burgers for lunch.
Then I pick up my friends and head north to Honolua Bay to hike in the nearby forest (and maybe get lost a bit), then visit a hillside that overlooks Honolua Bay, where you can park your car and watch some of the best surfers in the world who come here to surf one of the world's best surfing spots.
Finally, I travel to the Surfing Goat Dairy Farm, Maui's premiere (and only goat farm), where I am put to work feeding and milking the goats, and rewarded with an artisanal goat cheese tasting.
Then, with my trip coming to a close, I head to the nondescript restaurant Da Kitchen, one of the best places to try out classic Hawaiian cuisine, including Kahlua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken and of course, Spam.
Finally, I wrap up by providing my thoughts about the island. Be forewarned, sentimentality and reflection ensue.

As the second-largest island in the Hawaiian chain, Maui is home to less than 150,000 people. It makes up for its sparse population by drawing more than 2.4 million visitors per year, all of whom are drawn to its sparkling beaches, warm water, and lush tropical habitats.
Polynesian and modern American lifestyles blend together in the Valley Isle. Maui’s legendary greenery, sprouting from fertile lava soil, has made it a popular place for hikes and scenic drives. Of course, its fascinating culture and history are also huge draws. Once you’ve arrived on the island, your Maui tour should kick off with the capital city, Wailuku, which is full of museums, pubs, and places to explore.
Maui is not a large island, and in theory it’s easy to see all of it—after all, you can drive from one end to the other in less than three hours. Instead of taking the shortcut, though, do some Maui sightseeing around the perimeter. Rent a car and pull onto the Hana Highway, where you can view some of Hana’s beautiful, secluded spaces, like the Garden of Eden Arboretum. You can enjoy its stunning views of the ocean and bamboo forest for hours.
Once you reach the other side of Hana, you’ll find Haleakala National Park, which is set on a dormant volcano. If you go hiking there in the morning, you’ll see a brilliant sunrise and truly understand why Haleakala means “the house of the sun.”
But who are we kidding? You’re here for the beaches—and there are 80 of them. Whether you want to go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of Molokini Island Preserve or commune with the turtles at Maluaka Beach, you’ll find the perfect watery habitat on Maui. If you want to learn how to surf, Kihe is the ideal place; with its gentle waves and affordable lodgings, you’ll be getting barreled in no time.

Polynesian and modern American lifestyles blend together in the Valley Isle. Maui’s legendary greenery, sprouting from fertile lava soil, has made it a popular place for hikes and scenic drives. Once you reach the other side of Hana, you’ll find Haleakala National Park, which is set on a dormant volcano. If you go hiking there in the morning, you’ll see a brilliant sunrise and truly understand why Haleakala means “the house of the sun.”
But who are we kidding? You’re here for the beaches—and there are 80 of them. Whether you want to go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of Molokini Island Preserve or commune with the turtles at Maluaka Beach, you’ll find the perfect watery habitat on Maui. If you want to learn how to surf, Kihe is the ideal place; with its gentle waves and affordable lodgings, you’ll be getting barreled in no time.

Hawaiian Music - Relaxing Acoustic Ukulele Guitar Instrumental Hawaii Songs over Maui Sunset
The ukulele is commonly associated with music from Hawaii where the name roughly translates as "jumping flea", perhaps because of the movement of the player's fingers. Legend attributes it to the nickname of the Englishman Edward William Purvis, one of King Kalākaua's officers, because of his small size, fidgety manner, and playing expertise. According to Queen Liliʻuokalani, the last Hawaiian monarch, the name means “the gift that came here,” from the Hawaiian words uku (gift or reward) and lele (to come). On Oahu, we are partial to the North Shore and Haleiwa. For quality ukulele's, visit The Ukulele Site - Hawaii Music Supply in Haleiwa. I love the vibe of the Pipeline and could sit on that beach for hours. Shark's Cove is great for some waist deep snorkeling. You'd be surprised by the amount of fish that get washed into there. Perfect for younger kids. Just be careful stepping on the lava rock! When returning to Maui, we enjoy riding around Oahu making our way back to the airport.
Regarding the drone, I was surprised by the amount of people that approached me while flying it. All were very receptive, inquisitive and amazed at the drone's capabilities. I enjoyed sharing my limited experience. I mentioned to everyone regarding my FAA registration which I believe to be a good thing. People are more at ease knowing we are registered and have FAA rules to follow.
