Rosser Goodman is an American film and T.V. director, writer and producer. Ms. Goodman founded her own production company, KGB Films in the 90's upon moving to Hollywood. Ms. Goodman's company is now called Circle Content in partnership with fashion designer and costume designer Oneita Parker.
Born in Washington, D.C., Ms. Goodman grew up acting and singing in the theater. At an early age, she was enrolled in advance drama classes at the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts founded by Ms. Toby Ornstein. In high school, Ms. Goodman's creative writing, social commentary and character studies flourished at The Park School of Baltimore. Ms. Goodman then graduated a year early from the honors college New College of Florida to attend film graduate school at Temple University's Anthropology Film Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From there Ms. Goodman got her first big break working on NBC Television's Earth 2, produced by Steven Spielberg and his production company Amblin Entertainment.
Robert "Bob" Ellis (born 1942, Lismore, New South Wales) is an Australian writer, journalist, filmmaker and political commentator. He was a student at the University of Sydney at the same time as other notable Australians including Clive James, Germaine Greer, Les Murray, John Bell, Ken Horler and Mungo McCallum. He lives in Sydney with the author and screenwriter Anne Brooksbank; they have three children.
Ellis was raised a Seventh-day Adventist. He says the "seminal moment" of his life happened when he was ten and his 22-year-old sister was killed while crossing the road. He attended Lismore High and then Sydney University on a Sir Robert Menzies scholarship. After graduating he had a variety of jobs before being employed by the ABC.
Ellis was a regular contributor to the Nation Review in the 1970s and subsequently contributed to Fairfax Media newspapers and the National Times.
Ellis became a popular playwright, usually working in collaboration. In 1970 he and Michael Boddy (1934–2014) became known for co-writing The Legend of King O'Malley, a musical play based on the life of King O'Malley. From 1975 to 1986 he and his wife also owned the Stables Theatre in Kings Cross, Sydney, during which time it became home to the Griffin Theatre Company. They sold it in 1986 for $200,000.
In film and television, a production designer or P.D is the person responsible for the overall look of a filmed event such as a TV program, video game, music video, or advertisement. Production designers have a key creative role in the creation of motion pictures and television. Working directly with the director and producer, they must select the settings and style to visually tell the story. The term "production designer" was coined by William Cameron Menzies while he was working on the film Gone with the Wind. Previously (and often subsequently) the people with the same responsibilities were called "art directors".
In the United States and Europe as well as Mexico, production designers are represented by IATSE local 800; the Art Directors Guild. The production design credit must be requested by the producer, prior to completion of photography, and submitted to the Art Directors Guild Board of Directors for the credit approval. In Canada, production designers are represented by the Director's Guild of Canada, except in British Columbia where they are represented by IATSE.
A line producer is a type of film producer that functions as the key manager during the daily operations of a feature film, television film or an episode of a TV program. A line producer works on one film at a time. They are responsible for human resources and handling any problems that come up during production.
According to Producers Guild of America (PGA) guidelines, the Line Producer is the individual who reports directly to the individual(s) receiving "Produced By" credit on the theatrical motion picture and is the single individual who has the primary responsibility for the logistics of the production, from pre-production through completion of production; all Department Heads report to the Line Producer.<ref name=".
The line producer functions like a Chief Operations Officer in running the production shooting company. During pre-production responsibilities include supervising the assembly of the shooting company, the recruitment of key personnel and services, and the production organization for how the script is going to be shot and transformed into a movie. Start dates for everyone and everything are planned, budgeted for and implemented in the lead up to picture. It is managed on a rigorous schedule. Facilitating casting, location scouting, set building and decorating, offices and stages, wardrobe, props, stunts, physical and visual effects, camera, lighting, rigging, transportation, cast, crew and union relations, travel, cast and crew accommodation, contracting of legal permissions and agreements, safety and risk management, the prep and shooting schedule - in short the joint planning, negotiations, implementing and accounting for production - are all part of the oversight equation.
