It seems the world has gone mad for Pokémon Go. Everyone from kids to grandparents has been out roaming the streets trying to catch 'em all.

But if Pokémon Go isn't your cup of tea, you could try this boozier alternative: 'Chardonnay Go.'

The spoof app is the creation of comedian Dena Blizzard, who says she wasn't keen on the idea of Pokemon Go.

"I really didn't understand [the game] and wasn't looking forward to playing it with my kids, since it's the middle of summer and I'm done," Blizzard told TODAY.

"I told my daughter I would play if we were looking for glasses of wine ... and 'Chardonnay Go' was born."

Blizzard, a mother of three and the creator of the off-Broadway hit 'One Funny Mother', created a Facebook video to explain the game. It has now been viewed over 10 million times.

"Did you know there's an app for moms called 'Chardonnay Go' where you can actually find glasses of chardonnay all over your neighbourhood?" Blizzard says in the video.

"And it's really simple. There's actually a glass really close to my house right now. Let's go find it - let's 'Chardonnay Go!'"

We then see Blizzard running down her street in Moorseville, New Jersey, picking up and drinking glasses of wine that she finds in bushes, a neighbours' kitchen ... and, more surprisingly, the back of a dog-walkers waist band.

Blizzard gives the game the hard sell: "There are no problems with security because Google wants you to drink!

"Free chardonnay for mums everywhere!"

Since posting the video on her Facebook page it has attracted thousands of comments.

"Definitely the best new exercise video I've seen! Note: Please play responsibly, don't Chardonnay Go and drive!" says one.

"After spending a week with my twin 16-year-old nephews, I know the Pokemon version like the back of my hand! The Chardonnay Go sounds way more fun!" writes another.

But some people are confused. As Blizzard said "Someone wrote in the comments, 'Don't try and download this app. It's another facebook hoax!' Bahahaha!

"I should really have made this app!"
