When photographer mum Laura Izumikawa puts her baby daughter down to sleep, the last thing on her mind is rest.
Instead, the creative mum springs into action, photographing her adorable baby in an array of pop-culture inspired costumes.
Izumikawa has taken pictures of her four-month-old daughter, Joey Marie Choi, dressed as characters as diverse as Jon Snow to Pikachu.
In other photos, the sleeping Joey appears as Beyoncé, as well characters from current TV and movie hits.
The Los Angeles photographer told The Huffington Post that realised early on that the "sleep when the baby sleeps" method wasn't going to work for her. "I would end up just staring at her face all day and night because I was just so in love," she explains.
So Izumikawa began a photo series that would capture her little one's early childhood.
"Because Joey slept so deeply, I thought it'd be fun adding little props on her just to send some hilarious pictures to our parents. It was a way to memorialise her growth and little milestones," she says.
Izumikawa posted the quirky photos on Instagram, along with witty captions, and soon the naptime pictures developed a big following.
"Initially when I started getting a ton of online attention, there was a bit of a mother-bear type of panic, and I thought about stopping," she said.
"But then I started receiving messages from countless people who said that the photos and videos were the highlight of their day and for some, a thing they enjoy to watch with their kids."
Scrolling through the photos it's easy to see why the account has become so popular – baby Joey is just too cute for words.
