New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
York (i/ˈjɔːrk/) is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events in England throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city offers a wealth of historic attractions, of which York Minster is the most prominent, and a variety of cultural and sporting activities making it a popular tourist destination for millions.
The city was founded by the Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD. It became the capital of the Roman province of Britannia Inferior, and later of the kingdoms of Northumbria and Jórvík. In the Middle Ages, York grew as a major wool trading centre and became the capital of the northern ecclesiastical province of the Church of England, a role it has retained.
In the 19th century, York became a hub of the railway network and a confectionery manufacturing centre. In recent decades, the economy of York has moved from being dominated by its confectionery and railway-related industries to one that provides services. The University of York and health services have become major employers, whilst tourism has become an important element of the local economy.
A police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and limit civil disorder. Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with police services of a sovereign state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined as being separate from military or other organizations involved in the defense of the state against foreign aggressors; however, gendarmerie are military units charged with civil policing.
Law enforcement, however, constitutes only part of policing activity. Policing has included an array of activities in different situations, but the predominant ones are concerned with the preservation of order. In some societies, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these developed within the context of maintaining the class system and the protection of private property. Many police forces suffer from police corruption to a greater or lesser degree. The police force is usually a public sector service, meaning they are paid through taxes.

Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.
"PDA", "NYC", "Obstacle 1" and "Say Hello to the Angels" were the singles from Turn On the Bright Lights, and a video was shot for each with the exception of "Say Hello to the Angels".
The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on August 29, 2011 for shipments of 500,000 copies.
A remastered version of the album was released in 2012 to commemorate its tenth anniversary. It featured additional material including demo recordings of several tracks, the bonus songs previously available on international releases and a DVD of live performances and music videos.

NEW YORK — An explosion caused by what officials believe was a homemade bomb tore through the Chelsea neighborhood in New York City injuring at least 29 people on Saturday night. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, the New York City Fire Department said. The force of the explosion blew out windows and could be heard several blocks away, according to BBC. Authorities believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, according to CNN. The blast, which happened around 8:30 p.m., prompted the closure of a large section of Manhattan south of Midtown, the New York Times reported. On Sunday, 14th Street to 32nd Street was closed to traffic between Fifth and Eighth Avenues until further notice, according to the New York Times. A second...
Police said a Muslim woman wearing traditional attire was set on fire Saturday night in New York City by a man with a lighter. The New York Police Department told the 35-year-old woman was wearing a hijab and looking at a dress in the window display of a Valentino store on 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan when a man set her clothes on fire with a lighter. A police source said, “She felt a sudden heat on her left arm. She noticed she was on fire and patted the fire out.” The woman was not seriously injured in the attack, but the flame left a hole in her blouse about the size of a quarter. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident as a possible bias crime. No arrests have been made in the incident. Police do not believe the man who set a Muslim woman dressed in traditional religious attire on fire in New York was motivated by anti-Muslim bias, they said on Wednesday, after more women are revealed to have been targeted. Three other women were also targeted in a similar area, at a similar time as the incident on Saturday, according to the New York police department. “The other women were NOT wearing clothing indicating they were Muslim,” the police department’s spokesperson told the Guardian via email. “The motivation for these crimes is not considered to be ‘bias-related’ at this time.” On Saturday evening, a Scottish tourist who was wearing clothes that would identify her as a Muslim had her blouse set on fire while standing outside a designer shoes store on New York’s Fifth Avenu...

A ‘traditionally-dressed’ Muslim woman found her blouse set on fire by a man with a lighter in New York’s midtown in a disturbing incident being investigated by New York City police as a possible hate crime. Police said the Scottish tourist felt heat on her arm on Saturday night as she stood outside a Fifth Avenue luxury boutique in Manhattan. She noticed her blouse was on fire. The woman, Nemariq Alhinai, patted out the fire and noticed a man standing nearby holding a lighter. The man then walked away. “She saw [the suspect] pull a lighter away and walk away,” a source told the New York Daily News who first reported the incident. “He doesn’t say anytIt is not clear what police meant by ‘traditional dress’ whether she wore a hijab, which covers the head, or an abaya, which covers everyt...

Hey African Americans. Do you want to make a real change for cops to stop the harassment? How about you start a trend to refer to cops as "peace officers" and remind them their legal title is "peace officers" and not "law enforcement" Their job is to make sure everything is peaceful and not go around makeing up stories about criminals. Here is what the law is: Notwithstanding the provisions of any general, special or local law or charter to the contrary, only the following persons shall have the powers of, and shall be peace officers: 1. Constables or police constables of a town or village, provided such designation is not inconsistent with local law. 2. The sheriff, undersheriff and deputy sheriffs of New York city and sworn officers of the Westchester county department of public safe...
That is a lot of firepower for "peace officers". More crime means more money for their annual budgets and more bragging rights who has the largest budget and tons of really easy overtime money. Lots of enemies means job security!

http://www.LanceScurv.com/ - The time has come to set the record straight on one of the most corrupt police forces in America, THE NYPD! Pastor Damon Richardson has had enough of the denial that has been executed not only by many in the Black Clergy but in the Black Community as a whole. It appears that to many are muzzled because of their fear of losing their jobs or smearing their public persona as to not have the spotlight placed on them which might cause them to lose what they have. It’s the equivalent to the old plantations and the unwritten rules therein that are played out in the new year of 2015 that shows how far we HAVEN’T progressed. I hear the train all night
Sound of its wind blowing through our subtle lives
And I have a job to do walking these cars
Walking all asleep to get to you
But I don't feel your stir beside me
And your not in my morning hour
Some ties are made to break
Some stalks grow high and green to run away
And feel the wake
And these lines tell the truth
These city veins answer all you do
So could you keep me in the pulses
Could you keep me in the sound
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you know
Maybe you bet on me
While we were still young enough to know
Or to believe
For every year you took
For every soft breathe or loving look
Believe me
And don't keep me like you have me
And don't kiss me like you don't
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
Some land holds a home
Some of my years only hold me to Rome
But I tell myself its true
You see a home you see a man
You see it too
And I say don't you know you have her
Go on kiss her now you boy
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
