A cow will live another day after it had a run-in with a helicopter on a property in far north Queensland but the chopper was destroyed.
A man was flying a Robinson R22 Beta mustering helicopter on a Coen cattle station on Sunday when the rails under the aircraft accidentally hooked onto a cow's horns.
The helicopter lost balance and crashed onto the Peninsula Development Road, just south of Coen, about 2.40pm.
The pilot, a 35-year-old man, walked away from the crash uninjured before the helicopter erupted into flames.
The Rural Fire Service attended the crash site and extinguished the flames, however the aircraft was destroyed.
The cow involved in the incident escaped harm.
Police were investigating.
